About Bounce

Bounce is the current social way to pay: a smart, fun alternative to traditional money transfers. Canada's first Venmo-style app, rail-agnostic and designed to go viral (Hey, Bounce me!). Whether you're requesting rent, sending money for concert tickets, or splitting a group trip, Bounce moves money across any account with zero fees. Add your vibe with an emoji, snap a quick pic, and turn everyday transfers into something you actually enjoy doing. Now we're extending those rails to merchants. The same account-agnostic infrastructure that lets two friends split a bill can let a business get paid, no card terminal, no interchange, no waiting days for settlement.

Bringing

Bounce to merchants means new surfaces, new integrations, and a much higher bar for correctness: a consumer can shrug off a delayed transfer, a business cannot. That's where you come in.

Role Overview

We're looking for a QA Engineer who will own the quality of what we ship, release after release. This is a hands-on manual testing role: you'll work across our mobile app, web surfaces, and backend services, designing test cases, breaking things on purpose, and catching the edge cases that only show up when real money is involved. This is a role for someone who wants depth.

Payments have unforgiving failure modes — duplicate transfers, stuck states, race conditions between two people splitting the same bill — and finding those before a user does is the job. You'll work closely with engineering, product, and design, and you'll have a direct line to what ships and when.

What You'll Do

- Own the test strategy for what we ship. Turn product requirements into clear acceptance criteria and thorough test plans. Ask the awkward questions early, while they're still cheap to answer.
- Test deeply and deliberately. Run exploratory, functional, regression, and cross-platform testing across iOS,

Android, and web. Write bug reports that are reproducible, prioritized, and actually useful to the engineer picking them up.
- Own the regression pass. Maintain a living regression suite covering our critical flows — onboarding, linking accounts, sending, requesting, splitting, settling — and run it against every release so nothing that used to work quietly stops working.
- Guard the money paths. Focus special attention on transaction integrity, idempotency, error handling, and failure recovery. Verify that what the user sees matches what actually happened.
- Make quality a team habit. Maintain our test case library, document what we know, and share findings so engineers catch more before it reaches you.

Who We're Looking For

- 4+ years in QA, testing, or a similar quality-focused engineering role.
- An engineering mindset: you chase root causes rather than filing symptoms, and you dig into logs and API responses to understand what actually broke.
- A genuine talent for breaking things, and the curiosity to keep poking after the happy path passes.
- Clear communication — you can explain a subtle bug to an engineer and its business impact to a founder in the same conversation.
- Comfort with ambiguity and shifting priorities. Early-stage means the spec is sometimes a Slack thread, and you're fine turning that into something testable.
- A collaborative instinct: you give feedback well, take it well, and would rather prevent a bug than log one.

Tech Skills

- Solid grounding in testing fundamentals: test case design, boundary and edge case analysis, regression strategy, defect triage and prioritization.
- Experience with a test case management platform like Qase, TestRail, or similar.
- Comfortable with API testing using Postman or a similar REST client.
- Expertise testing web and mobile applications. Familiarity with tooling such as Browserstack.
- Able to read application logs, inspect network calls, and use browser and mobile developer tools to isolate a failure.
- Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and issue trackers like Jira or Linear.

Bonus Points

- Test automation experience; Playwright, Cypress, WebdriverIO, or similar. Not required for this role.
- Some scripting ability in TypeScript or Python.
- Experience testing fintech, banking, or payments products.
- Mobile testing experience on both iOS and Android, including device labs or emulator farms.
- Exposure to performance or security testing.
- Bilingual (English/French) — helpful for testing a product built for Canada.

Benefits & Perks

- Real impact from day one on a product that's live and expanding into a new market.
- Hybrid by default: one day a week together in our Place Ville Marie office, the rest wherever you work best. Steps from transit, food, and city life on the day you're in.
- Flexible hours — we care about what ships, not when you're online.
- A people-first culture with founders who value transparency, ownership, and growth.
- Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits.
- Professional development budget and training programs.
- Regular team events and a genuinely good crew to spend your days with.

Requirements

- Authorized to work in Canada
- 4+ years of hands-on QA or software testing experience
