About The Role The Senior Quality Engineer at Ecolab is a vital member of our quality assurance team, responsible for leading complex investigations, driving strategic quality initiatives, and ensuring products and processes meet rigorous standards. This role requires a proactive approach to embedding quality into product design, manufacturing, and supplier management. As a recognized subject matter expert, the Senior Quality Engineer influences cross-functional teams, supports customer and supplier relationships, and champions continuous improvement efforts.
The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, and a passion for excellence, contributing significantly to Ecolab’s reputation for quality and reliability.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Electronics Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) designation or equivalent certification.
- Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in quality engineering or related roles.
- Legal authorization to work in Canada without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven ability to lead high-impact investigations involving customer escalations, systemic failures, RMAs, and non-conformances using methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, DOE, and statistical analysis.
- Strong influence skills to support company-wide quality decisions,
translating failure data and customer feedback into strategic insights.
- Experience collaborating with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Product Management teams to align quality objectives with business goals.
- Excellent communication skills for articulating technical findings and risks to operational and leadership audiences.
- Working knowledge of 3D modeling and design software such as SolidWorks.
- Experience supporting customer communication during significant quality events, ensuring clarity and transparency.
- Ability to develop and deliver training on quality tools, problem solving, and investigation techniques to diverse teams.
- Knowledge of quality standards, procedures, and best practices to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex investigations into customer escalations, systemic failures, RMAs, and critical non-conformances, employing advanced problem-solving methodologies to determine root causes and corrective actions.
- Translate field data, failure trends, and customer feedback into actionable insights, supporting strategic quality decision-making across the organization.
- Partner with leadership across Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Product Management to align quality initiatives with overarching business objectives.
- Ensure fact-based decision making by thoroughly understanding, documenting, and validating root causes before closure of investigations.
- Review and verify the effectiveness of quality investigations, containment actions, and CAPA activities conducted by other teams.
- Act as the primary quality interface for strategic customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders during significant quality events, facilitating clear communication and resolution.
- Lead cross-functional teams through resolution of critical quality issues,
ensuring accountability, timely execution, and sustainable outcomes.
- Support customer communication by clearly articulating technical findings, associated risks, and corrective actions at operational and leadership levels.
- Contribute to the development, refinement, and implementation of quality standards, procedures, control plans, and best practices.
- Develop and deliver training sessions on quality tools, structured problem solving, and investigation techniques to production, engineering, and quality personnel.
- Serve as a go-to resource and escalation point for complex or ambiguous quality challenges, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and learning.
