The Corporation of the Town of Midland invites applications for the position of
Recreation Support Student
(temporary part-time, primarily evenings and weekends)

This student position offers an hourly wage rate of $18.20 to $21.41, on a part-time 6-month contract, working primarily evenings and weekends.

Position Summary
The Recreation Support Student reports to the Manager, Recreation and will provide exceptional customer service to individuals using the Bourgeois Community Centre.
The Recreation Support Student will assist the Corporation by answering and managing inquiries over the phone and in-person regarding recreation services and operations and will also be responsible for handling cash for rentals and bookings.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service to individuals using the Bourgeois Community Centre by answering inquiries about recreation services and operations in-person and over the phone.
- Accept payments for rentals and bookings, including room bookings, ice rentals, and community skating.
- Complete cash out and deposit processes at the end of each shift.
- Assist facility staff with set-up for facility bookings as needed.
- Utilize PerfectMind software to schedule rentals and bookings.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Current enrollment in a secondary or post-secondary educational institution required.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills when dealing with the general public, facility users, and staff.
- Demonstrated team player with the ability to work in a rapid-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to process cash transactions for rentals and bookings and balance cash at the end of each shift.
- Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office and booking software.
- Certification in First Aid/CPR & WHMIS is an asset.
- Knowledge of recreational facility services and operations is an asset.
- Ability to work varying shifts, as scheduled, including evenings, weekends,
and holidays.
Effort/Physical Demands
- Physical demand requires standing, sitting, lifting and moving tables and chairs, and walking.
- Visual attention for health and safety compliance and personal safety while on the job.
Working Conditions
- Work in an office environment within the Bourgeois Community Centre.
- Regular interaction with customers, including occasional exposure to emotionally charged, high-stress, or challenging situations.
- Evening and weekend work is required.
