Provides input into the development of recreation programs in the assigned areas. Implements and evaluates recreation therapy programs and determines program modification as necessary.

Promotes the patient/client's ability to access and participate in community resources that will help their transition from a hospital to home community setting. # Conducts the assessment of each patient/client's social and leisure abilities and, in cooperation with other members of the interprofessional team, plans, implements and evaluatespatient/client plans of care. Educates patients/clients and families in aspects of recreation therapy treatment.



# Provides input into the performance evaluation of clinical support staff. # Assists with the implementation of staff education programs relating to recreation therapy and rehabilitation services. # Acts as a resource person to staff regarding patient/client's therapeutic recreation needs. # Prepares food items with patients/clients; portions out and serves food and beverages and assists patients/clients with eating. # Maintains patient/client records, clinical outcome measures and statistical data in accordance with department, facility and skilled standards. # Participates in interprofessional, departmental and professional development to ensure awareness of current developments of evidence-based therapeutic recreation practice. # Provides instruction, feedback and supervision to students as required. # Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Therapy. One (1) year of experience in Therapeutic Recreation, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Eligible for membership with the BC Therapeutic Recreation Association (BCTRA). Successful completion of Foodsafe Course Level 1. Valid BC Driver's License and access to personal vehicle for work-related purposes.

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to operate related equipment including related computer software.
