About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Registered Health Care Aide/Child &

- Youth Care Worker to join our team. In this role, you will support children and individuals with disabilities by delivering compassionate care, engaging in teaching activities, and fostering a safe, nurturing workplace. Your enthusiasm and commitment will help improve the daily lives of those you serve.

Responsibilities

- Provide personalized care and support to children and individuals with disabilities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
- Assist with daily activities such as mobility, hygiene, feeding, and medication administration as required
- Develop and implement engaging teaching strategies tailored to each individual’s needs to promote learning and development
- Support behavioral management plans by applying positive reinforcement techniques
- Collaborate with families, caregivers, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care plans and progress updates
- Document observations, care activities, and progress accurately in compliance with agency policies
- Foster a positive environment that encourages independence, social interaction, and personal growth

Requirements Qualifications &

- Education

Required Registration &

- Knowledge

- Registered Health Care Aide (HCA) in the province of Alberta — current and in good standing
- Understanding and knowledge of CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities)

standards, policies, and procedures
- Familiarity with Alberta’s health care and disability support frameworks

Required Experience

- Demonstrated experience working with children or youth with complex medical needs




- Experience monitoring and supporting individuals with Type 1 Diabetes, including blood glucose

monitoring and response protocols
- Experience operating sleep PAP machines and other medical monitoring equipment
- Experience supporting youth or individuals with physical disabilities and activities of daily living
- Experience working within a family home environment
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary medical and care teams

Required Certifications &
- Clearances

- CPR First Aid Level C (current)
- Police Information Check (completed within the last 6 months)
- Child Intervention Record Check (completed within the last 6 months)
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence
- Reliable personal vehicle — must be able to commute to Sherwood Park for every scheduled shift
- Willingness to complete extensive training as per CARF accreditation requirements

Required Skills

- Diligent, detailed documentation and report writing skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with email and Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Space, Google Docs)

Experience

- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a caregiving capacity is highly preferred
- Prior experience working with children or in educational settings is advantageous
- Strong understanding of teaching methods suitable for children and individuals with special needs




- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with clients, families, and team members
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and proactive in dynamic situations

Job Type Full-Time

Salary

$20.17–$21.88 an hour

Ability to Commute/Relocate

Ability to commute on time for every scheduled shift
