Work site: St John Hospice Primary site: St John Hospice - 6389 Stadium Road Vancouver, British Columbia V7X1K8 Canada Registered Nurse / Registered Psychiatric Nurse Min hourly: 41.42 CAD Max hourly: 55.91 CAD Reg/Temp/Full‑Time/PT/Casual Rotation: Days/Nights Rotating Providence Health Care is seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Palliative Care team at St. Paul’s Hospital. Reporting to the Patient Care Manager, the RN provides holistic, patient‑ and family‑centred nursing care to individuals with life‑limiting illnesses.
The RN assesses patient needs, develops and implements individualized care plans, evaluates outcomes, and supports patients and families in meeting their physical, emotional, spiritual, and psychosocial needs. Working within an interdisciplinary team and guided by the standards of the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives, the RN promotes comfort, dignity, and quality of life for patients receiving palliative care.
Responsibilities include patient assessment, care planning, education for patients and families, collaboration with healthcare professionals, and contributing to a safe, respectful care setting aligned with the mission and values of Providence Health Care. This role is ideal for nurses who are passionate about compassionate end‑of‑life care and teamwork in a supportive clinical environment. A criminal record check may be required.

Education: ~ Current practising registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.

A competitive salary: The salary range for this position is $41.42–$55.91 per hour, depending on experience. John’s Hospice (14 beds) – Sub‑Acute: Hospice care is intended for those who are in the last days of life and are receiving end‑of‑life care. The first community hospice on Vancouver’s West Side is situated in a beautiful location on the University of British Columbia’s campus. Reviews patient/resident status through charts, observations, interviews, and team collaboration.
Assesses needs, develops care plans, and delivers care using clinical judgment and evidence‑based practice. Provides nursing care in alignment with established policies, procedures, and standards. Monitors progress, evaluates outcomes, and adjusts care plans as needed.
Documents assessments, care plans, patient status, and reports changes to appropriate staff. Supports patient and family education, including teaching and health promotion. Guides and supports care staff, promoting teamwork and effective task coordination.
Participates in education, training, quality improvement, and research activities. Facilitates discharge planning, advocates for patient rights, and performs additional duties as required. #
