Registered Nurse, Transition Line - Intensive Care Unit - Royal Columbian Hospital Have an interest in working as a nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at Royal Columbian Hospital? Just that… an opportunity for nurses to transition and consolidate their skills with working in a specialty nursing area prior to and/or completing their specialty nursing education post graduate coursework within the agreed-to time frames.

Critical Care Program In house Critical Care program (CCP) - offered 2-3 intakes a year. The program is about 12 weeks long in a full time studies format. BCIT Critical Care Program - offered in 4 intakes a year. The program is 37 weeks long (24 weeks online studies and 13 weeks full time studies format). Maternity

Top-Up: Receive an 87% top-up during maternity leave. In accordance with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) standards of practice and Fraser Health values, the Registered Nurse provides direct patient care by assessing, planning, providing and evaluating nursing care. The purpose of this position is to provide qualified registered nurses the opportunity to consolidate their skills by rotating through a specialty nursing unit prior to and/or during the undertaking of post graduate course work applicable to the relevant specialty nursing unit.

Applicants are expected to participate in and successfully complete the applicable post graduate specialty nursing courses/program within the agreed-to time frames. perform nursing diagnoses and plan, perform and evaluate nursing interventions and care.



Collaborate with patients and families/caregivers to develop and modify the care plan

- Participate in care and discharge planning; update care plans and coordinate with the interprofessional care team and the Patient Care Coordinator. Coordinate nursing care
- Collaborate with the interprofessional care team to identify and resolve issues and adjust care plans as needed. Educate patients and families about illness prevention, health restoration and maintenance; assess learning needs and support self-care and discharge planning. Discuss referrals to health care/community services with patients and families in collaboration with the care team. Participate in nursing committees, care conferences and quality improvement activities as assigned. Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). Completion of the applicable post graduate specialty nursing course/program or willingness to complete. Ability to complete initial and ongoing patient assessment and provide nursing care with appropriate interventions. Effective communication with patients, families, staff and the interprofessional care team using verbal, written and electronic means. Commitment to person-centered care, empathy, cultural sensitivity and patient advocacy. Ability to integrate and evaluate data from multiple sources to problem-solve; teach patients and families about health topics. collaborate with the interprofessional care team
