# Maintains patient records and documents care provided to the patient by collecting information such as nursing observations, interventions, teaching, care evaluations and patient responses as per established policy and professional standards of practice; reports significant change or findings to the physician, Manager or other health care provider as required. # Maintains a secure and therapeutic environment for patients, visitors and staff adhering to hospital standards and other policies such as infection control, fire and other emergency procedures. # Participates in the planning, implementation and/or evaluation of quality improvement activities and research by identifying patient care issues and collecting relevant data; generates recommendations for alternative approaches to nursing care and identifies appropriate corrective action. # Participates in the orientation and ongoing education of nursing staff and students by providing information and acting as a preceptor, as appropriate. # Utilizes appropriate human and material resources in a cost effective manner in the delivery of patient care. # Participates as an active member on nursing and/or hospital committees, interprofessional conferences and councils for improvement of patient care. # Graduation from an approved school of Nursing and current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
