As a Medical and Surgical Nursing Resource, you will have the chance to develop areas of expertise by experiencing a wide range of care environments.
Exposure: Gain diverse experiences across supporting care for medical and surgical patients across multiple units with our hospital. Your assignments will be based on where care and nursing assignments are needed.
Training & Development: Comprehensive orientation and continuous training are provided to foster skill development and ensure you have the tools to excel in your role. This full time position, as part of the nursing resource team you will be placed on a full-time master schedule and will be floated to where the care demands are for medical and surgical patients. The physical demands of the role may include sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and bending as required by the diverse assignments across different units.

Diploma in Nursing Current registration & in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario Crisis Intervention Training required or obtained within 3 months of hire Minimum two years’ current experience in medicine and/or surgery units within a hospital setting Knowledge, recent experience, and competence in vascular therapy (including peripheral and central vascular access devices) Oncologic and palliative nursing experience Knowledge, recent experience, and competence in managing post-operative patients including epidural monitoring Demonstrates supportive emotional care to the patient and their family/significant others from all diverse backgrounds Demonstrates emotional intelligence to navigate high-stress situations with empathy, self-awareness, and professionalism, ensuring compassionate care for patients and respectful collaboration with colleagues. Ability to recognize and manage emotions —both personal and in others— Demonstrates trauma informed care to support a positive patient-centered care environment. Flexibility regarding assignment locations, willingness to be reassigned across all areas of the hospital as needed (may include reassignment to one or more units throughout a shift) based on organizational and patient needs Commitment to multidisciplinary, team-centered patient care environments Keyboarding skills and proficiency with Meditech ,Omni Cell software and Cerner Health Information System * As per the SEIU Collective Agreement, all members (full-time,
