Oversee the review and approval of reinsurance journal entries and reconciliations prepared by members of the Reinsurance and Insurance Financial Reporting team. Develop and maintain day-to-day reinsurance accounting procedures to promote efficiency in accounting transactions and reporting.
Analyze and prepare the quarterly and annual performance and reinsurance settlement reporting to reinsurers and manage the reinsurance payments and receipts. Lead the quarterly and annual preparation of reinsurance related financial statement and regulatory reporting areas and assist in review of relevant balance sheet and income statement account analysis.
Coordinate the Finance components of the annual reinsurance renewal cycle including the data gathering to support the submission packages, questionnaires, and exhibits.
Manage and keep abreast of the technical accounting requirements for the reinsurance portfolio to ensure our reporting is aligned with relevant accounting standards. Support internal and external audits and regulatory reviews related to reinsurance. Lead and support all finance aspects for the implementation of a new reinsurance system.
Implement automation and continuous improvement opportunities in working papers and settlement procedures to reduce manual processes. Risk, Actuarial, Pricing, etc.) Bachelors or equivalent degree in Business / Finance / Accounting. ~5-7+ years progressive experience in an Insurance accounting role. ~ Industry accreditation in Insurance related field (CIP or ARe) would be an asset. ~ Preparation of complete financial statements and regulatory reporting. ~ Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience with SAP and Aptitude preferred.
