Build the Next Generation of Autonomous Industrial SystemsWe are looking for a Robotics & Advanced Autonomy Engineer to join our team in Kingston, Ontario.
This is not a traditional controls or automation position.
You will be working at the intersection of industrial robotics, autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), intelligent control systems, machine vision, motion planning, and advanced automation — taking systems from concept and integration through commissioning and real-world operation.
You will be the kind of engineer who enjoys getting both software and hardware working together: configuring a robot, wiring and commissioning a control system, tuning motion, debugging communications, integrating sensors, and then watching the system operate autonomously on the floor.
What You'll Do
- Design, integrate, program, commission, and troubleshoot AMR and autonomous robotic systems
- Integrate and deploy industrial robots, cobots, robotic cells, and automated material-handling systems
- Develop and configure robot control systems, PLCs, HMIs, motion control, safety systems, and industrial networks
- Work with autonomous navigation, localization, mapping, path planning, obstacle avoidance, and fleet coordination
- Integrate LiDAR, cameras, machine vision, proximity sensors, encoders, safety scanners, and other sensing technologies
- Develop interfaces between robots, PLCs, production equipment, databases, MES/ERP systems, and facility infrastructure
- Commission robotic and automated systems in real operating environments
- Diagnose complex problems spanning electrical, mechanical, controls, networking, and software layers
- Develop and improve autonomous behaviours and robotic decision-making
- Build simulations, test environments, and digital representations of robotic systems where appropriate
- Develop tools and software to improve system monitoring, diagnostics, data collection, and fleet performance
- Participate in the complete engineering lifecycle — concept → prototype → integration → commissioning → optimization
- Document systems, controls architecture, operating procedures, and technical solutions
- Work directly with customers,
operators, technicians, and other engineers to solve real-world automation problems

You don't need to be an expert in every technology. We are looking for an engineer with strong fundamentals, curiosity, and the ability to learn across disciplines. What We're Looking ForYou are a practical engineer who likes to build things and make them work.
Ideally, you have:
- A degree or diploma in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- Experience with robotics, automation, controls, autonomous systems, or industrial machinery
- Experience programming or configuring industrial robots, PLCs, or autonomous systems
- Strong troubleshooting and systems-integration skills
- Understanding of electrical control systems and industrial automation
- Programming experience in one or more languages such as Python, C++, C#, or structured-text PLC programming
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols and networking
- Ability to read electrical schematics and understand machine/control architectures
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
- Willingness to work hands-on with equipment, including commissioning and field troubleshooting
You Will Stand Out If You Have
- AMR/AGV deployment experience
- ROS / ROS 2 experience
- Nav2 or similar autonomous-navigation frameworks
- Industrial robot programming experience with platforms such as FANUC, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa/Motoman, Universal Robots, or similar
- PLC experience with Siemens, Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff, Omron, or similar
- Machine vision experience
- LiDAR / 3D perception experience
- Motion planning or robotics algorithms
- Computer vision or sensor fusion
- Experience with robotic fleet management
- Experience commissioning automated production or material-handling systems
- Experience taking a prototype into a reliable production system
