The Site Safety

Officer at Caliber Projects Ltd. is a fulltime position on one of Caliber’s construction sites.

The Safety

Officer reports to the Site Superintendent and is responsible for ensuring homes are built in a safe manner with no physical harm to all parties involved in accordance with the Caliber Projects Occupational Health and Safety Program. Own It – accountable to assumed role & responsibilities, and the well-being of Caliber.

The responsibilities of the Site Safety Officer include: Understand and ensure adherence to all required safety policies as directed by Caliber’s Safety Manual and WorkSafeBC OH&S; Regulations. Ensure that Caliber training matrix is updated and that all employee training and certifications are up to date and saved in their respective employee folders.





Complete inspections of the worksite to ensure all workers are compliant with Caliber’s safety program.

Site Safety

Ensure that all onsite safety stations are setup and fully functional daily. Conduct daily inspections, identify risks, and communicate to relevant parties and monitor to minimize the potential for accidents and physical harm. Keep the site and offices clean and organized.

Ensure the required safety signs and notice boards are maintained across the entire site. Conduct safety orientations for all visitors and new employees on site and fill out appropriate documentation. Ensure a supply of Personal Protective Equipment is available to all workers.

Ensure equipment and crane operator certification, rigger, and maintenance logs are up to date. Ensure tools onsite are kept in safe working conditions and enforce tool inventory tracking of Caliber owned tools. Coordinate weekly toolbox meetings to identify and minimize safety hazards proactively.

Set an exceptional safety example. Attend monthly JOHS meetings and provide site statistics and updates. Attend and provide safety input in subtrade meetings weekly and site wide meetings monthly.

First Aid

Address any First Aid incidents in accordance with OFA training and protocols. Complete safety forms and execute corrective actions when jobsite injury incidents occur.

Personal Development

Maintain a thorough understanding of the issues facing the construction site throughout the progression of the site. Maintain a network of site safety officers and safety professionals.



Partake in continuing education to constantly grow ability and knowledge of site safety construction practices and procedures. Report to Superintendent on site and Project Manager as called upon.

Training Caliber

Employees and ensuring they are working safely. Sub-trade/onsite working team, consultants performing inspections and the public. Any site incidents requiring reporting or press to flow through the Superintendent.

The Site Safety

Officer has the authority to stop work if the Caliber Projects Safety Program is not adhered to.

Advanced First

Aid (minimum). Proficient with the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook and knowledge of Salus and Procore is an asset. The ideal candidate is a hands-on safety professional who understands construction site operations, takes ownership of secure work practices, and communicates clearly with employees, sub-trades, consultants, and the site leadership team.

They are organized, detail-oriented, and confident in addressing unsafe conditions, completing documentation, supporting first aid needs, and reinforcing safety expectations in a respectful and consistent way. Safety requirements, site orientations, toolbox meetings, inspections, and required. Workers, sub-trades, and visitors understand site safety expectations and follow Caliber’s Safety Program and WorkSafeBC OH&S; requirements.

Risks and unsafe conditions are identified early, communicated clearly, and corrected without delay. First aid incidents are responded to appropriately, documented properly, and followed up on with care and accountability. The jobsite remains clean, organized, well-supplied, and prepared with proper signage, PPE, safety stations, and equipment documentation.
