The Senior

Analyst, Capital Markets & Financial Operations is a key member of the Accounting and Finance team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Hedge Accounting & Financial Operations, the role will be responsible for providing operational support for financial instruments, confirmations, settlements, hedge accounting and fair valuations. The role works closely with various departments including Treasury, Capital Markets, and Securitization operations, and is responsible for providing middle-office and back-office functions for securities trading including settlements, reporting and valuations.

The role will also provide support to the banking operations, procurement, and accounts payable functions within the Financial operations team.

Middle Office Operations

Coordinate with traders in Treasury/Capital Markets, custodians, and counterparties to resolve any settlement issues. Manage the trade upload process to CDS custodian portal, reconcile external and internal trade confirmations, and ensure accurate settlement uploads into the Treasury duration reporting system. Review and verify daily trades by maintaining the daily trade blotter featuring all trades and bond price details, raising and flagging any unmatched transactions to enhance transparency and facilitate timely observability.

Review and verify payment settlements for accuracy and compliance with established procedures. Track payment wires for FX forwards and interest rate swap transactions in accordance with trade agreements and market conventions. Validate data input in the system against contractual terms for various derivatives,



including FX forwards and interest rate swaps.

Conduct regular investigations to ensure data accuracy and identify and rectify any discrepancies. Prepare and maintain accurate reports related to daily trades, payment settlements, wire creations, and data input validation. Ensure appropriate controls exist over securities and derivative valuations, and hedge accounting transactions.

Develop process improvement initiatives. Complete ad-hoc projects, as assigned. University/Post-graduation education in Accounting, Commerce, or Business. ~2-3 years of prior experience in a financial institution’s middle office for financial operations. ~ Ability to clearly communicate technical, analytical, quantitative or conceptual information and ideas using language that is appropriate to the target audience. ~ Familiarity with banking systems and payment processing platforms. ~ Demonstrated ability using MS Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word). ~ Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including developing/running macros using VBA would be an asset. ~ Understanding of regulatory frameworks related to financial transactions. ~ Ability to work extensively with formulas, data and spreadsheets. ~ Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio would be an asset. ~ Experience in securitization would be an asset. ~ The individual will work under the supervision of the Senior Manager, Hedge Accounting & Financial Operations but will also work closely with more senior members of the Finance team as needed.

The individual will need to possess excellent communication skills to partner with members of Finance, Capital Markets, Treasury and other external stakeholders to resolve issues. To be successful,



the candidate must have a keen interest in financial instruments and be able to work autonomously to develop creative solutions to ambiguous problems. The incumbent will report to the Senior Manager, Hedge Accounting & Financial Operations.

The incumbent will often work closely with other stakeholders in the organization, primarily Financial Operations, Treasury, Capital Markets, and Securitization Operations. The incumbent will occasionally be required to interact with external stakeholders (e.g. regulators, banks and other financial counterparties). The incumbent will work in a standard office environment.

Currently a hybrid working model is in place with two days work from office. There may be a requirement for overtime during periods of peak workload, such as quarter-ends.
