Cinetism Inc is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Compositor to join its VFX team for ongoing feature-film and cinematic VFX projects . This is a remote freelance opportunity for a compositor with a robust understanding of photorealistic image integration, cinematic lighting, colour, atmosphere, depth and photographic detail. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating polished, production-ready final composites by combining live-action plates, CG renders, matte paintings, roto, paint and other VFX elements.

You will be expected to work independently on assigned shots while maintaining close communication with Supervisors, Leads and the wider production team. The role involves integrating multiple visual elements into convincing final images while preserving the photographic qualities of the original footage.
You may work on shots involving CG characters, creatures, digital environments, set extensions, matte paintings, atmospheric effects, digital doubles, green-screen footage and complex multi-pass renders.
Senior
Compositors should be comfortable handling technically demanding shots and solving problems without compromising the creative intent of the sequence. You will also be responsible for keeping your Nuke scripts clean, organised and production-ready throughout the life of a shot.
Key Responsibilities Compositing & Shot Integration As a Senior Compositor, you will be responsible for creating high-quality, photorealistic final composites for feature-film VFX projects. You will seamlessly integrate CG elements into live-action plates and combine live-action footage, CG renders, matte paintings and other VFX elements to create convincing final shots.
You will work with complex multi-layer compositing setups, integrate multiple CG render passes and AOVs, maintain visual consistency across individual shots and sequences, and accurately match colour, exposure, contrast and lighting between different elements.
You will also recreate realistic depth, atmosphere and environmental interaction to ensure seamless integration. Nuke & Technical Work You will use Foundry Nuke to build and maintain professional compositing scripts and efficiently manage complex node-based workflows.
Your responsibilities will include advanced keying, roto, tracking, paint and cleanup, as well as creating and managing 2D and 2.5D compositing setups. You may also work with camera projections, multi-pass CG integration and holdout workflows when required. You will be expected to troubleshoot technical compositing challenges, maintain clean and organised node structures, and ensure all Nuke scripts remain production-ready throughout the project.
Shot Ownership Cinetism
Inc. is looking for Senior Compositors who can take full ownership of their assigned shots , from initial turnover through Supervisor review and final delivery. You should be able to analyse each shot, identify potential creative or technical challenges and develop an effective approach that results in a polished, production-ready composite. You will be expected to work confidently through Supervisor and client feedback, making revisions efficiently while preserving the original creative intent of the shot.
A strong understanding of production priorities is essential, including knowing when additional refinement is required and when a shot has reached the appropriate quality for review or final delivery.
Required Qualifications as Senior Compositor Candidates should have 6+ years of professional VFX compositing experience , with strong production-level expertise in Foundry Nuke . Previous experience working on feature films, episodic productions or other high-end cinematic VFX projects is highly desirable. You should have an excellent understanding of photorealistic compositing, along with strong knowledge of colour, lighting, photography and image formation.
A solid understanding of CG render passes and AOV workflows is required, as well as professional experience with keying, roto, paint, tracking, projections and 2.5D compositing techniques. The role also requires a strong understanding of live-action and CG integration, excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently within established production schedules. Candidates should be comfortable working within a professional VFX pipeline,
managing deadlines and collaborating effectively with Supervisors, Leads, Production and other artists.
Preferred Experience Additional experience with creature and animal integration, digital doubles, complex CG environments, set extensions and green-screen or blue-screen compositing will be considered an advantage.
Experience integrating atmospheric and environmental effects, digital matte paintings and complex multi-pass CG renders is also highly valuable. Candidates with experience in camera projections, advanced cleanup and paint work, feature-film VFX sequences, cinematic action sequences and photorealistic environment integration are particularly well suited to this position. A strong understanding of how creatures, characters and CG elements interact naturally with live-action environments will be beneficial for the type of cinematic work involved.
What Makes a Strong Candidate? The ideal candidate will combine advanced technical compositing expertise with solid artistic judgement . You should be able to analyse a shot and identify the elements that prevent it from feeling believable, then determine the appropriate creative and technical solutions required to improve it.
A strong visual eye for composition, lighting, colour, perspective, scale, depth, atmosphere, edge quality, texture, lens behaviour, motion and photographic consistency is essential. Understanding these elements will allow you to integrate CG and live-action imagery in a way that feels natural rather than visually separate. You should also be comfortable researching photographic and cinematic references and experimenting with different approaches when solving challenging shots.
As a Senior Compositor, you should be capable of understanding the creative intent of a shot, identifying its technical requirements and developing an appropriate compositing solution without requiring every decision to be individually directed. Collaboration & Production Although this is a remote position, clear and consistent communication is essential . You will collaborate closely with VFX Supervisors, Leads, Production and other artists throughout the project to ensure shots meet both creative expectations and technical requirements.
You should communicate clearly about shot progress, raise technical or creative concerns early and respond professionally to feedback. You will also be expected to manage your workload effectively, meet agreed production deadlines and maintain consistent visual quality across all assigned shots. Following established pipeline requirements, production standards and naming conventions will be an important part of the role.
Nuke scripts should remain clean, organised and understandable so they can be reviewed, transferred or continued by other artists and Supervisors when necessary.
