Role Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced Java Staff/Lead Engineer to join our team in Downtown Toronto. This is a hands-on engineering position where you will be responsible for designing architecture and writing production code for distributed systems.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement production-grade distributed systems.
- Develop and maintain microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
- Architect solutions for event-driven systems.
- Utilize AWS services for compute, storage, networking, and IAM.
- Support ML inference pipelines and integrations.
- Lead technical design decisions and deliver production code.
Required Skills:
5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience in:
- Robust experience with distributed systems and microservices.
- Proficiency in event-driven architecture.
- Extensive AWS experience.
- Experience with greenfield or zero-to-one product development.
- Ability to translate business goals into technical architecture.
- Experience with GitHub Copilot and LLM-powered development workflows.
- Comfortable working at startup speed with evolving requirements.
Strongly Preferred Skills:
- Experience with edge computing or CDN execution.
- Knowledge of JavaScript or TypeScript for edge runtimes.
- Understanding of JWT/JWS, OAuth 2.0, and security platforms.
- Experience with Python and Databricks.
- Familiarity with distributed tracing and observability.
