About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Kimberley, focusing on the mining and minerals sector. This critical role involves the design, implementation, and maintenance of heavy-duty mechanical systems and equipment used in mining operations. Key Responsibilities

- Design, specify, and oversee the installation of heavy mechanical equipment for mining operations, including crushers, conveyors, and processing machinery.
- Conduct detailed engineering analysis, including structural and fatigue analysis, to ensure the durability and safety of equipment under harsh conditions.
- Develop and implement maintenance strategies and predictive maintenance programs for critical mining assets.
- Manage mechanical engineering aspects of capital projects, from feasibility studies to commissioning.




- Troubleshoot complex mechanical failures and provide engineering solutions to minimize downtime.
- Ensure all designs and installations comply with stringent health, safety, and environmental regulations specific to the mining industry.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 7-10 years of progressive experience in mechanical engineering, with a strong background in the mining and minerals industry.
- Proven experience with heavy industrial machinery, material handling systems, and process equipment.
- Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and other engineering simulation tools.
- Strong understanding of mining operational environments and associated safety protocols.
- Excellent leadership, project management, and problem-solving skills.
