Senior Surety Underwriter

Responsible for marketing and underwriting the assigned surety portfolio within Canada, maintaining broker relationships, recommending new broker relationships, effectively marketing surety capabilities, and underwriting profitable business.

Key Responsibilities

- Work with the VP of Surety in Canada to execute the strategic business plan to maintain and expand Allianz Trade North America’s Surety business in Canada.
- Develop and underwrite a profitable portfolio of Surety business through active engagement in the market with existing and new broker relationships.
- Document all decisions and recommendations consistently and transparently.
- Conduct account and portfolio underwriting activities in line with Allianz Trade’s underwriting guidelines and portfolio management requirements.
- Collaborate with Allianz Trade colleagues across the Americas and internationally to fully leverage surety capabilities and existing customer base.
- Attend industry groups and local surety events as requested by the VP of Surety.
- Perform other duties and projects as required.

Key Requirements

- 4+ years of industry experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the Canadian surety market.
- Entrepreneurial skill set to establish and achieve goals.
- Track record developing business with brokers.
- 4‑year university degree in business, economics,



or finance.
- Proven ability to underwrite and grow a surety portfolio.
- Strong relationships with local brokers.
- Recognized expertise in underwriting surety accounts and risks.
- Successful underwriting results.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, service‑driven environment.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Sound time‑management and interpersonal skills for multidisciplinary teamwork.
- Strong communication skills to establish market presence.
- Ability to work with limited oversight.
- Proficiency in English and French (oral and written).
