Senior Systems Administrator, IT Full‑Time Gibraltar Mine Coordinator, IT Taseko Mines Limited is a dynamic and growing mine operator headquartered in Vancouver, Canada. The Company’s foundational asset is the long‑life, low‑cost Gibraltar copper mine in south‑central British Columbia, for which it has won numerous environmental and safety awards for operational excellence. Gibraltar is a state‑of‑the‑art facility and the second largest open‑pit copper mine in Canada, with a 700+ person workforce.
For more information visit our website: Reporting to the IT Coordinator, the Senior Systems Administrator manages and maintains our complex IT infrastructure, focusing on server/network performance, security, upgrades, and backups, while also developing best practices, handling complex troubleshooting, managing vendors, and leading IT projects to ensure system stability and efficiency. They ensure reliability, security, and optimal function of servers, networks, firewalls, storage, and virtualization. Please note this position requires the successful incumbent to relocate to Williams Lake, BC, or the surrounding area.
This is not a permanent remote working position. Oversees the operation and maintenance of networks, servers, and other core systems. Plans for necessary hardware or software upgrades to support system growth.
Maintains inventory and asset configuration documentation. Establishes, monitors, and evaluates effectiveness of logging procedures to meet IT security requirements. Maintains communications systems (VOIP, mobile phones).
Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements. Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Administration,
or equivalent experience required. ~5+ years of experience in a related IT field. ~5–10 years of experience in a mining or industrial setting is an asset. ~ IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, VMWare, Cisco, or other related fields are a plus. Proficiency in Windows and Linux operating systems.
Experience with multi‑domain Windows environments and server products (Azure, Exchange, SharePoint, Microsoft 365). Knowledge of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN. Familiarity with database management systems like Microsoft SQL or MySQL. Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
Experience with NAS and virtual environment design and support (NetApp, VMware). On‑premise and cloud‑based IP phone PBX systems.
Experience maintaining system security through patching, configuration, and monitoring. Strong ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
Experience writing technical documentation of systems.
Experience using helpdesk ticketing systems. Good interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work with staff at all levels and communicate with both technical and non‑technical people.
