Join Us as a Senior Underwriter/Specialist, Contract Surety Tokio Marine Canada (TMCan) is a Canadian early-stage entrepreneurial commercial P&C; insurer based in Toronto. We partner with select brokers to deliver tailored business insurance solutions across Canada. As part of the Tokio Marine Group, we are able to collaborate under a shared framework while maintaining autonomy and local decision making.

We support Canadian businesses in taking smart risks by delivering practical insurance solutions and exceptional service through trusted broker partnerships. UW/Specialist, Contract Surety Solutions (depending on experience). Reporting to the VP Surety, Western Region, you will be helping to build and manage the surety business in Western Canada, through working collaboratively with the Tokio Marine Canada Surety unit.

Evaluate new risks through thorough analysis to determine acceptability and pricing. Analyze and review projects, approving within given authority, or recommending approval or denial of surety bonds. Conducting ongoing review and management of surety portfolio, ensuring accounts are up to date with action items being followed up.

Help assist underwriting efforts across country where needed. Support marketing, legal and claims services when required. Working with surety team in building and implementing broker strategy. Promoting the Tokio Marine Canada brand, working closely with various business units including ProFin and Commercial Insurance.

Travel to various regions on a regular basis. You are an experienced Contract Surety underwriter.





University

Bachelor’s Degree, Business or related preferred. Minimum 4 years of experience in Contract Surety. Superb customer service skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Teams, and Outlook).

We work in a hybrid model, and you should expect to split your time between working in the office and working remotely, with flexibility based on the role and the business needs. We currently have an office in downtown Toronto and will eventually be establishing offices in other provinces.
