Field Service Technician Employment Type: Full-Time.

Travel: Significant travel throughout Ontario and Canada. Our client is seeking an experienced and technically capable Field Service Technician to join their growing service team.

The Field Service

Technician will be responsible for installing, commissioning, troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and optimizing sophisticated CNC cutting and industrial fabrication equipment at customer facilities throughout Ontario and across Canada. This is a highly hands-on role suited to a mechanically and electrically inclined technician who enjoys troubleshooting complex equipment, working directly with customers, and gaining exposure to advanced CNC, automation, laser, plasma, and industrial control technologies. The successful candidate will become a key technical representative in the field, helping customers minimize downtime and ensuring equipment operates safely, reliably, and to specification.

Field

Service & Troubleshooting Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, CNC, and automation-related issues on industrial cutting equipment. Troubleshoot machine faults, alarms, error codes, performance issues, and production problems. Perform emergency breakdown service and scheduled repair work.

Conduct on-site machine inspections and identify root causes of equipment failures. Verify equipment operation and cutting performance following repairs. Provide remote technical troubleshooting and support when required.

Installation & Commissioning Participate in the installation and commissioning of new CNC cutting and processing equipment. Assist with machine setup, alignment, calibration, testing, and startup. Work with customers and contractors to ensure equipment is properly connected and ready for commissioning.

Support machine upgrades, retrofits, modifications, and automation projects.

Preventive Maintenance





Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on customer equipment. Inspect mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and other machine systems. Identify potential failures before they result in production downtime.

Customer

Support & Training Act as a professional technical representative at customer facilities. Communicate clearly with maintenance personnel, machine operators, supervisors, and management. Provide operator and basic maintenance training when required.

Explain technical issues and repair recommendations in a clear, customer-friendly manner. Help customers optimize machine performance and reduce recurring downtime. Maintain strong customer relationships through responsive and professional service.

Technical Documentation

Complete detailed service reports following each customer visit. Maintain accurate service and maintenance records. Communicate unresolved technical issues to internal service and engineering teams. Assist with identifying parts and components required for future repairs.

The technician will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of advanced industrial equipment, including: CNC plasma cutting systems CNC drilling and milling equipment Automated material handling systems Welding automation CNC controls and motion systems Industrial electrical and control systems 3+ years of experience as a Field Service Technician, Industrial Technician, Millwright, Electromechanical Technician, Maintenance Technician, or similar technical position. ~ Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.



~ Experience diagnosing and repairing industrial machinery. ~ Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics. ~ Experience working with CNC machinery, automated equipment, or industrial controls. ~ Comfortable working independently at customer sites. ~ Strong communication and customer-service skills. ~ Willingness to travel extensively throughout Ontario and Canada. ~ Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, or emergency service calls when required. ~ Experience servicing CNC cutting machinery. ~ Experience with fibre laser, plasma, oxyfuel, or metal fabrication equipment. ~ CNC troubleshooting experience. ~ Experience with PLCs, servo motors, drives, sensors, and motion-control systems. ~ Experience with industrial automation and material-handling systems. ~ Electrical troubleshooting experience involving 480V/600V industrial equipment. ~ Experience with machine commissioning and installation. ~ Electrical, Millwright, Automation, Electromechanical, or related technical education/certification.
