- Participate in and successfully complete mechanic shop training courses provided by the Company.
- Apply basic welding skills in support of maintenance and repair activities.
- Assist tradesman with railway equipment repair or inspections, servicing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs.
- Prepare tools, equipment, and work areas for maintenance activities.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Follow all Company safety policies, procedures, and railway regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualification:
- Previous railroad experience.
- Completion of basic welding training.
- Ability and willingness to complete Company-provided training programs.
- Mechanical aptitude and interest in rolling stock maintenance.
- Ability to work safely in an industrial environment.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Excellent communications skills and,
- Passion to get the work done in an effective and safe manner that meets organization and customer standards.
Additional Information/Preferred Candidate:
- This is a safety-sensitive position.
- Work is performed in a locomotive shop and rail yard environment.
- May require working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Must be able to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
- Self-motivated, self-starting individual preferred.
- Demonstrated willingness to be a safety leader and lead compliance with safety regulations.
- Problem-solver, analytical skills and initiative being able to forecast repair requirements.
