New Metric Media

Toronto

THE COMPANY

New Metric Media is an award-winning entertainment studio specializing in building comedy brands across TV production, live entertainment, distribution and licensing.

Named Playback’s 2022 Production Company of the Year and 2025 Strategist of the Year, New Metric is behind hit series including Letterkenny, Shoresy, Children Ruin Everything, Bria Mack Gets a Life and Hate the Player: The Ben Johnson Story.

New Metric is also recognized for extending its brands beyond the screen through innovative social content, live entertainment, consumer products, licensing and fan experiences.

THE ROLE

New Metric Media is looking for a Social Media Manager who lives and breathes entertainment, culture and social media.

This is a hands-on role responsible for managing and growing the social presence of New Metric Media and our content brands. You’ll help shape how our shows and brands show up online — developing social strategies, building content calendars, creating and publishing content, engaging with our communities, identifying trends and opportunities, and using performance insights to continuously improve what we do.

The ideal candidate understands that great social content is more than simply posting regularly. You know how to translate a brand's voice into content people actually want to watch, share and talk about. You have strong creative instincts, understand internet and entertainment culture, and can move quickly when an opportunity presents itself.

You’ll work closely with the Marketing team and collaborate across development, production and other areas of the business to turn ideas, moments and assets into engaging social content.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

- Own the day-to-day management of social media channels across New Metric Media and our content brands.
- Develop and execute social media strategies that build awareness, engagement and audience growth.
- Build and manage social content calendars across multiple brands, platforms and campaigns.
- Create, curate, edit, schedule and publish compelling social content tailored to each platform and audience.
- Identify cultural moments, trends, memes and conversations that our brands can authentically participate in.

- Develop creative concepts that extend our shows and characters beyond the screen and deepen fan engagement.
- Write engaging, on-brand social copy while maintaining distinct voices across our different properties.
- Manage online communities, engage with fans and respond to comments and messages in the appropriate brand voice.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to support launches, announcements, campaigns, partnerships and other marketing initiatives.
- Work with existing photography, video and production assets to create social-first content.
- Capture and create original content when appropriate.
- Monitor channel and campaign performance, identify insights and use data to inform future content and strategy.
- Stay current on platform changes, emerging formats, audience behaviours and social media best practices.
- Support broader marketing initiatives and special projects as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

- A genuine passion for television, comedy, entertainment and pop culture.
- Demonstrated experience managing social media channels for a brand, entertainment property, agency or similar organization.
- A strong understanding of Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook and other relevant and emerging social platforms, including how content and audiences differ across each.
- Excellent creative instincts and the ability to recognize what makes content entertaining, engaging and shareable.
- Strong copywriting skills and an ability to adapt tone and voice across different brands and audiences.
- Hands-on content creation skills, including experience creating and editing short-form video and social graphics.
- Experience with tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva or other content creation and editing platforms.
- An understanding of social analytics and the ability to translate performance data into actionable recommendations.

- Strong organizational and project-management skills with the ability to manage multiple brands, priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong judgment about what is — and isn't — appropriate for a brand to say or do online.
- Comfortable receiving feedback, collaborating with others and iterating quickly.
- A proactive, resourceful approach and the ability to thrive in a fast-moving creative workplace.
- An entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to experiment, test new ideas and move quickly when opportunities arise.

Experience in entertainment, film/TV, media, sports, music, advertising or another fan-driven industry is an asset, but not required.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who understands fandom and knows how to turn great entertainment into an ongoing conversation with audiences.

WHY WORK HERE?

At New Metric, you’ll work on entertainment brands with passionate, highly engaged fan communities and have the opportunity to help shape how those brands live beyond the screen.

We’re a collaborative, creative and entrepreneurial team where great ideas can come from anywhere. You’ll have the freedom to experiment, move quickly and see your work make a real impact — while working alongside people across marketing, production, development, live entertainment and other areas of the business.

If you love entertainment, understand internet culture and want to create work that gets people talking, you’ll fit right in.

LOCATION

This is an in-office role based in Downtown Toronto. This role is expected to be physically in the office 4 days per week.

CONTRACT

This is a full-time, 12-month contract position with the potential to transition to a permanent, full-time role.

HOW TO APPLY

Please submit your resume along with a brief introduction telling us a bit about yourself and why you’re interested in the role to [email protected].

If you have examples of social content or accounts you’ve worked on that you’re particularly proud of, we’d love to see those too.

We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
