The Fundraising Copywriter develops compelling, donor-centered messaging that inspires generosity and strengthens engagement with MCC’s mission. The role combines strategic thinking, storytelling, and collaboration to create effective fundraising content across print and digital channels. Working closely with colleagues across Communications, Donor Relations, and Programs, the position ensures messaging reflects MCC’s voice, values, and brand while building meaningful connections between donors and MCC’s work.

Post-secondary degree in fundraising, communications, marketing, or a related field Minimum three years of experience in direct response copywriting, fundraising, or a related area Demonstrated ability to apply ethical storytelling principles in fundraising communications Experience managing projects involving multiple stakeholders or entities Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills Fluency in French; proficiency in additional languages is welcome Good understanding of the international relief and development sector Strategy implementation and project management: Content development: Strategy Implementation and Project Management (15%) Implement fundraising and donor engagement strategies Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of fundraising communications and apply insights to improve future campaigns Content Development (70%) Plan and prioritize content for upcoming campaigns and deliverables Write and edit persuasive, donor-focused materials, including appeals, newsletters, landing pages, email campaigns and stewardship communications Translate complex program information into clear,



engaging stories that honour the communities MCC serves and invite meaningful donor responses Conduct interviews with skill and sensitivity to support content creation Ensure all content aligns with organizational voice, brand guidelines, and ethical storytelling standards Collaborate with fundraising, communications, and program staff to develop fundraising collateral Optimize content for digital platforms, including email, and web, where appropriate Ensure that the gospel of Jesus Christ is exemplified in the performance of all job responsibilities and through personal example Participate in regular staff meetings, spending time in devotions and prayer with all in attendance in local MCC setting Model nonviolent peacemaking through daily interactions with staff and the public Participate in a local church and gatherings, being willing to use his or her gifts within the local faith community Maintain organized project files and documentation Support reporting and administrative processes Some domestic travel is required ~ The Fundraising Copywriter works collaboratively with Communications and Donor Relations colleagues across MCC Canada and with program staff nationally and internationally to develop donor focused communications that accurately represent MCC’s work.

Supervision

Familiarity with AI supported writing tools and the ability to use them ethically and appropriately to enhance efficiency is an asset.

The Fundraising





Copywriter works with a high degree of independence while managing multiple concurrent projects and competing deadlines. The incumbent exercises initiative and sound judgement in planning and prioritizing work, while ensuring accuracy, consistency and alignment with organizational priorities. The incumbent demonstrates creativity, curiosity, and initiative in developing engaging fundraising content while remaining responsive to changing priorities and organizational needs.

Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills are essential. Active listening, diplomacy, and consensus building skills contribute to effective teamwork and stakeholder engagement. Produces accurate, timely communications, including during international emergencies Delivers compelling, donor centered communications that strengthen relationships with current and prospective supporters, inspire generosity, and advance MCC’s fundraising mission through clear, ethical, and engaging storytelling.

Long Term

Disability is employee paid. The head office for MCC Canada is located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, however, a work from home arrangement may be available for a suitable candidate. Some travel to MCC offices may still be required.

Being near the centre of Canada, it is a major transportation hub. The city’s population is diverse and has the largest urban Indigenous population in Canada. English is the most common language spoken in Winnipeg, while also being home to a large francophone population.

Tagalog, German, Mandarin or Cantonese, Ukrainian and Punjabi are other top languages spoken.
