Role Description The Software Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Waterloo, ON. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining software solutions that support machine vision, AI, and robotics applications in advanced automation. Day-to-day responsibilities include programming new features, integrating databases, performing software testing, and troubleshooting issues in collaboration with engineering and programming teams.

Specialist will also participate in code reviews, help refine system architecture, and contribute to documentation to ensure maintainable, scalable software. The role requires close collaboration with cross-functional partners to translate technical and operational requirements into reliable, production-ready software.

Qualifications

- Strong skills in Software Development and Software Design, with experience building robust, maintainable applications.
- Proficiency in Programming (e.g., Python, C++, or similar languages) for engineering and automation solutions.
- Experience working with Databases, including data modeling, queries, and integration with applications.
- Practical experience in Testing, including unit, integration, and system testing for software quality assurance.
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a small, multidisciplinary team and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with machine vision, AI, robotics, or industrial automation is an asset.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and modern software development practices is beneficial.
