Our business development team plays a critical role in expanding that impact by helping secure the projects and partnerships that advance the clean energy transition.

We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive Proposal & Business Development Specialist to support the firm's growth and impact. Reporting to the Senior Business Development Manager, this role will play a critical part in identifying Requests for Proposals (RFPs), coordinating proposal development activities, maintaining business development systems and content libraries, and helping produce compelling, high-quality proposals.

This position is ideal for a solid writer who is passionate about contributing to the fight against climate change and enjoys collaborating with technical experts to communicate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Proposal Coordination & Development

- Support the Senior Business Development Manager in developing and refining proposal content for large and complex pursuits.
- Support Consultants in coordinating and drafting proposal content for smaller opportunities, including preparing templates, compliance matrices, qualifications, and other supporting materials.
- Submit proposal responses through online procurement portals and other submission platforms.
- Track proposal status and maintain accurate records throughout the proposal lifecycle.

Opportunity Identification & Business Development Support

- Coordinate the identification, intake, and tracking of relevant RFP and business development opportunities.
- Manage tools and systems used to monitor and share opportunities across the firm.
- Support the Business Development Committee through meeting coordination, documentation, and regular staff updates.
- Maintain accurate proposal and business development records in Salesforce and related systems.

Knowledge Management & Continuous Improvement

- Maintain and continuously improve Dunsky's proposal content library and qualifications database.
- Participate in internal proposal debriefs and lessons-learned sessions.
- Identify opportunities to improve proposal processes, tools, templates, workflows, and business development practices.
- Support the adoption and effective use of AI-enabled tools and other technologies that enhance proposal quality and efficiency.
- Support proposal/business development performance tracking and process improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

- Strong written communication and editing skills in English*, with the ability to produce polished, professional, and persuasive content.




- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, business, environmental studies, public policy, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Three to five years of experience supporting proposal development, business development, marketing, communications, or related functions.
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize information from multiple sources and translate complex concepts into clear, compelling written materials.
- Strong organizational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- General knowledge of clean energy, climate change, sustainability, environmental policy, or related sectors.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical experts and cross-functional teams.

Preferred Assets

- Experience coordinating or developing proposals within the clean energy, climate, sustainability, engineering, consulting, research, or professional services sectors.
- Understanding of public-sector procurement processes and competitive proposal development.
- Proficiency in French (written and spoken).
- Experience using Salesforce or other CRM platforms.
- Experience working with proposal management tools and online procurement portals.
- Familiarity with AI-enabled business development, research, or proposal development tools.

*This position will involve constant and ongoing communication with employees, potential clients, and suppliers from across Canada and the US, including with individuals who may speak exclusively in English or (to a lesser degree) in French.

LOCATION

We are open to candidates based in Montreal, Toronto, or Vancouver. You will have the option of working from the office full-time or in a hybrid mode, i.e. a mix of working from the office and from home that balances a flexible schedule with the opportunity to work in person with your colleagues..

Our offices in Montreal are in a modern and bright space located in the hyper-green, LEED Platinum Maison du développement durable, minutes from downtown metro stations and overlooking the new Esplanade Tranquille. In Toronto, our offices are located in the central and vibrant neighbourhood of Liberty Village, close to TTC and Go Train stations. Based on the 11th floor of a LEED-certified building, our office offers great city views and lots of natural light.
