The Department of Athletics and Recreation is currently seeking student help as an Alumni Relations and Events Assistant. The Alumni Relations and Events Assistant will assist in the collaboration of developing and promoting CapU Blues and CapUrec Alumni activities designed to enhance the engagement of alumni in the Capilano University Blues varsity teams.

The Sport Information Athletic Events, Media, and Sports Development Officer will provide career development and support to the position.:

POSITION DESCRIPTION

- Job functions include, but are not limited to:
- Develop program promotional materials and connect with Capilano University alumni to promote the Capilano University Department of Athletics and Recreation.
- Liaise with internal and external partners to receive prospective participants and report back on the status of alumni participation.
- Develop and implement CapU Blues alumni events
- Liaise with CapU Blues alumni
- Represent the Department of Athletics and Recreation
- Tasks such as designing posters, flyers, brochures, advertisements, social media (twitter, Facebook, Instagram, website), etc.
- Adhere to standards set by Capilano University’s Marketing & Communications department and assist in the maintenance of the CapUrec photo library.
- Assist in the maintenance of Campus Recreation and Active Health photo library.
- Additional tasks and responsibilities as required

SKILLS REQUIRED

- Must be a Capilano University student working on a diploma or bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, business, or other relevant programs
- Must have good communication and organization skills
- Strong communication, customer service and organizational skills are required




- Computer proficiency and ability to create promotional materials/program plans required
- Must have good interpersonal skills and be a team player
- Must have experience with social media
- Photography skills are an asset
- Adobe Creative Cloud experience is an asset

Additional Details:

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS To be eligible for student employment, a student must be in good academic standing with the University. Positive standing is defined as having a GPA of 2.0 and no current notations regarding academic standing, student conduct or outstanding fees per policy S2003-003 Academic Standing, a copy of which can be found on the University's website.

Domestic students must be enrolled in, and maintain, a minimum of two or more (6 credits) courses at Capilano University throughout the work term; international students must: during the fall and winter semesters, be enrolled in, and maintain, a minimum of 9 credits at Capilano University throughout the work term; have a valid Study Permit.

Student employees are not required to be enrolled in courses during the summer term to maintain eligibility for employment; however, they must have been enrolled in a minimum of six credits during the preceding spring term. Furthermore, international students must abide by the terms of their work or study visas.

Students who complete their studies in the spring or summer terms may have their appointments extended until August 31 of the same year; students who complete their studies in the fall term may have their appointments extended until December 31 of the same year.
