As a Direct Support Specialist/ Mental Health and Addictions Worker with our CBI Home Health team, you will be responsible to support and facilitate the development of skills and competencies that will allow persons living with disabilities to pursue and fulfill their goals, objectives and aspirations. Specialists will support individuals by promoting their involvement with family, friends, advocates and the community to ensure that their comfort, safety, and health requirements are being met.

Experience/knowledge of working with adult clients with intellectual and mental disabilities.
Experience working with clients who have challenging disabilities such as Autism, ADHD, and behavioural issues Required to have a clear Criminal Record Check with the Vulnerable Sector Minimum Grade Twelve education, preferably post-secondary, Developmental Service Worker Certificate, Health Care Aide certification or a combination of related education/experience. Positive communication skills (both verbal and oral), organizational skills, the ability to work effectively within a team environment, sound decision making abilities and the capacity to work with minimal supervision. A calm demeanor, as well as a positive attitude and belief that persons with disabilities have the right and responsibility to define and pursue their life choices and pursue active participation and involvement in the community Ability to meet conditions of employment including but not limited to: active Standard First Aid/CPR Level C, Immunizations: Diphtheria, Tetanus, Hep B, Varicella, Measles, Mumps, Rubella along with clear TB testing, a clear Security Clearance including Vulnerable Records check and Intervention Records Check We use technology and automation to support administrative aspects of our recruitment process.
