Key Responsibilities Cultural Integration : Integrate elements of the Carrier/Dakelh language, history, traditions, and culture into classroom curriculum.
Curriculum Delivery : Develop and implement lesson plans based on Ministry of Education standards, adapted for local community contexts and diverse learning styles.
Pedagogy : Utilize experiential, land-based learning and traditional teaching methods.
Student Support : Assess student progress regularly, maintain anecdotal records, and create remedial plans to help students achieve potential.
Community Engagement : Actively participate in community events, engage with parents,
and show a commitment to cultural awareness and professional development in Indigenous education.
Classroom Management : Establish a positive, safe, and respectful learning environment.
Qualifications Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) and a valid Teaching Certificate (e.g., BC Ministry of Education Certification). Demonstrated knowledge of, and sensitivity towards, First Nations culture, history, and community contexts. Proven experience working with Indigenous students or in a similar educational setting. Willingness to learn the Carrier/Dakelh language.
