A temporary part time (0.22) ADST Prep Teacher is required by School District No. The assignment will be at Anne Roberts Young Elementary School. Please note that part-time teachers may be required to attend Pro-D or other non-instructional days on days when they are not regularly scheduled to work.
Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for) Committed to a co-planning model within a learning "pod" of three to four divisions Willingness to share space and resources in a learning "pod" of three to fur divisions within a adaptable learning space environment Experience with universal design and differentiation to meet the diverse needs of students Experience/training/knowledge of Social Emotional Learning. Demonstrated ability to create a positive classroom community contributing to a safe, caring, and healthy school where every student feels a sense of belonging Strong belief in the philosophy of inclusion and the potential of all students to learn Understanding of the BC Curriculum and ability to plan both short-term and long-term in consideration of class composition Willingness to work in a collaborative model with staff on the foundation of enhancing student learning The Distinct Nature of Teaching and Learning at Anne Roberts Young Elementary School Anne Roberts Young Elementary School was designed and built to facilitate a distinct learning environment. This process involved visitations to schools around the country, community consultation meetings and several design meetings with a cross-section of staff from around the district.
These conversations on learning and learning spaces helped shape the architecture of the school.
Teaching/Learning Approach Design Features Teaching ~ Co-creative approach to planning and teaching Co-planning of lessons/units that incorporate the shared use of each of the spaces in the learning pod and around the school Teacher Inquiry-based approach Incorporates assessment for learning principles and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) A variety of multi-use spaces around the school Flexible spaces Project-based/hands-on learning connected to the community Leveraging technology for learning Integration of indigenous learning principal Connected to the community Learning Lab design in main area of school with access to technology Heather Hannaford Music Room - large music hall and multi-use space for arts programming Enhanced school gymnasium - with community use Small and large presentation areas around the school with flexible spaces Before and after school care Verification of qualifications (BC Teacher Certificate) 2000 relocation allowance for teachers from BC, AB and Yukon and up to $4000 for teachers from other areas ~$3,500 recruitment allowance (paid over 10 months of the school year, based on the FTE) ~ Benefits as per collective agreement with option to enroll in medical, dental, extended health, and group life insurance.
