Job Type: Full-time, unionized position Wage: $24.97 per hour — Wage Grid 8 Reports to: Housing Manager Anticipated Start Date: To be determined based on facility opening and operational readiness Cedar Strong Prevention & Intervention Society provides supportive, client-centred services to individuals and families in Hope and the surrounding communities. We are seeking a compassionate, creative, and dependable Activity Worker to join the team at our current supportive housing facility. This position will plan and facilitate meaningful recreational, social, cultural, educational, and life-skills activities that promote client participation, connection, independence, and well-being.

The successful candidate will be comfortable building relationships with clients, adapting activities to individual needs, supporting daily living tasks, maintaining accurate documentation, and working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Plan, organize, implement, and evaluate recreational, social, educational, cultural, and life-skills activities. Encourage and support clients to participate in activities that promote social connection, skill development, confidence, and independence.

Lead activities such as arts and crafts, storytelling, music, traditional food preparation, seasonal events, sports, and land-based-inspired learning. Model appropriate interpersonal, social, and life skills. Prepare activity areas, gather supplies, set up furnishings and equipment, and maintain an inventory of program materials.

Accompany clients on community outings, including appointments, shopping,



recreational activities, and other scheduled activities. Respond appropriately to client feedback, questions, concerns, and complaints. Maintain positive working relationships with clients’ families, community service providers, and other professionals.

Perform housekeeping duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, laundry, and washing dishes. Complete limited food preparation, such as heating prepared food and making tea, coffee, toast, salads, and sandwiches. Certificate in a related human services, social services, recreation, or community‑support field.

At least six months of recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Valid

Class 5 BC driver’s licence.

Occupational First Aid

Level 1 or equivalent. Naloxone training. Knowledge of recreational activities, arts and crafts, sports, and other group‑based programming. This position works in a structured, client-focused supportive housing environment and combines activity facilitation, community outings, daily‑living support, housekeeping, food preparation, and documentation.

The role involves light to moderate physical activity throughout the workday. As this position is connected to a new facility that is still under development, the schedule and start date may be adjusted based on facility readiness, client needs, staffing requirements, and service‑delivery needs. Any adjustments will be made in accordance with the applicable collective agreement, employment standards legislation, and Cedar Strong policies.
