About This Position

About the Role

Working within Event, Theatre and Hospitality Services, the Theatre Liaison role is a flexible position whose work schedule is variable and may include an irregular schedule of not less than three (3) hours per shift and up to thirty-five (35) hours per week.

Theatre Liaisons lead the Front of House (FOH) team and are responsible for the smooth and effective operation of the venue floor during events at the Taylor Centre for the Performing Arts and other key campus venues.

The Theatre

Liaison supervises the FOH staff, including Ushers, Head Ushers, and Box Office staff. They ensure that FOH policies, procedures and standards of conduct are followed and are also responsible for monitoring staff attendance and ensuring accurate TimeClock entries.

Liaisons focus on delivering exceptional FOH service and act as the primary FOH contact, they are the conduit between the venue, event presenters, artists, patrons, and FOH staff.

Liaisons report to the area Manager and through post show reports, provide any necessary updates or follow-up at the end of each shift.

Responsibilities

- Responsible for the smooth operation of the venue floor and supervision of the FOH team throughout events.
- Act as the primary FOH contact and conduit between the venue, event presenters, artists, patrons, and other event personnel.
- Interact with patrons, presenters, and artists as required to address their specific needs and ensure a positive event experience.
- Coordinate with Back of House (BOH)



technical staff during the loading of the house at the beginning of an event, during intermission, and following the event.
- Communicate with other MRU departments, including Parking and Security Services, as required to support the successful operation of events.

Qualifications

- Minimum of two years’ experience in the entertainment, theatre, events, or hospitality industry, with experience managing Front of House (FOH) operations.

- Experience working in a reputable establishment or venue of a similar scale, serving 500+ patrons per event or service.
- Strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to assess situations, problem-solve, and provide effective solutions for clients, patrons, and guests.
- Working knowledge of audio/visual equipment and event technology.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications.
- Must hold a valid ProServe certification. If not currently certified, certification must be completed within 30 days of employment. (supplied)
- Must hold a valid Basic First Aid certification. If not currently certified, training must be completed following employment. (supplied)
- Must be available to work flexible hours, including daytime, evening, weekday, and weekend shifts.
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.

Salary: $21.87 per hour Closing Date: September 13, 2026
