About the role
We are looking for a Vice-President Supply Chain & Manufacturing to take charge of the entire operational chain, from demand planning through to delivery, including procurement, production and logistics. Valuable Protein is entering a pivotal phase of its development, marked by significant expansion of its retail presence, followed by its imminent entry into the U.S. market. The VP will directly oversee a Supply Chain & Inventory Analyst, as well as three execution units: Manufacturing, Logistics and Procurement.
Reporting directly to the COO, this person will be mandated to centralize responsibility for functions currently spread across the organization, build an operational structure suited to the company's next stage of growth and instill rigorous cost management discipline, in order to optimize cost of goods, protect margins and ensure the capacity needed for our North American expansion.
Key responsibilities
- Implement the end-to-end S&OP; process, translating sales forecasts into robust supply and production plans and proactively resolving capacity, inventory, cost and availability issues.
- Ensure consistency across the entire supply chain, from planning through to customer delivery.
- Own total cost of goods, with direct accountability for operational COGS (manufacturing and logistics costs) and the ongoing identification of savings and productivity levers.
- Deploy the operational dashboard: service level, days of inventory, manufacturing cost, OTIF and transportation cost.
- Oversee raw material and packaging purchasing strategy and secure critical inputs.
- Lead and grow the network of manufacturing partners in Canada and the United States, optimizing capacity, cost, lead times, yield and operational performance.
- Optimize the logistics and 3PL ecosystem, including warehousing and transportation, to control costs while meeting retail partners' demanding requirements for OTIF, compliance and delivery windows.
- Ensure inventory integrity and optimization in a fully outsourced (3PL) environment, balancing product availability, working capital and overstock risk.
- Design and deploy the U.S. supply chain, including co-manufacturing, 3PLs, warehousing, transportation and cross-border flows, to build a scalable infrastructure supporting U.S. expansion.
- Structure and grow the three execution units (Manufacturing, Logistics and Procurement) by clarifying responsibilities,
developing talent and establishing management cadences that foster accountability and operational excellence.
- Strengthen controls and clear segregation of duties in transactional processes (PO entry vs. receiving; work order closing vs. performance review).
Candidate Profile
- 12+ years in supply chain / operations, including several years in a leadership role.
- Experience in consumer packaged goods, ideally in food, beverage, supplements or nutraceuticals.
- Hands-on experience with co-manufacturing and managing contract manufacturing networks.
- Strong command of S&OP;, planning and KPI-driven management; comfort with an ERP system (NetSuite an asset).
- Bilingual in French and English (Quebec, pan-Canadian and U.S. environment).
- Able to build and operate in a high-growth environment.
- Results-oriented, analytically rigorous and comfortable with numbers.
- Mobilizing leadership able to move between strategy and execution.
- Strong negotiation and external partner management skills.
- Experience setting up a Canada-U.S. cross-border supply chain, an asset.
- Experience with market launches or geographic expansion, an asset.
- Knowledge of regulatory and customs compliance requirements applicable to nutrition products, an asset.
