The Opportunity
We are currently seeking an experienced Welder to provide support and maintenance to our operations in the Sudbury, Ontario area.
In this role, you will perform welding, fabrication, and repair work on concrete production machinery, plant equipment, and structural components. You will work closely with other team members to help minimize downtime and ensure equipment remains safe, reliable, and ready for operation.
This position is well suited to a dependable, safety-conscious individual with experience performing welding and fabrication work in an industrial, manufacturing, or maintenance workplace.
Your Day-to-Day
- Perform welding, cutting, fitting, fabrication, and repair work on plant equipment and components
- Repair and maintain conveyors, hoppers, chutes, guards, frames, moulds, pallets, and other production equipment
- Inspect damaged or worn components and determine an appropriate method of repair
- Identify base metals and select appropriate welding processes, filler materials, and equipment settings
- Perform SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, or other welding processes based on operational requirements and individual qualifications
- Use cutting, grinding, gouging, and related equipment to prepare and finish materials
- Fabricate replacement parts, brackets, guards, supports, and other components as required
- Perform accurate measuring, fitting, layout, and material preparation
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, welding symbols, work orders, and equipment manuals
- Assist with preventative maintenance and emergency equipment repairs to help minimize production downtime
- Identify equipment defects and communicate maintenance or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor
- Safely operate welding machines, torches, grinders, saws, drills, and other shop or plant equipment
- Maintain welding equipment, tools, and work areas in a clean and serviceable condition
- Work in accordance with all internal, client and regulated health and safety policies, procedures and/or regulations, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Perform other related duties as assigned
You Are a Good Fit If You Have
Required
- Minimum of three (3) years of welding, fabrication, or industrial maintenance experience
- Welder 456A Certificate of Qualification or Red Seal endorsement
- Valid CWB welding qualifications
- Experience repairing machinery or production equipment in an industrial, manufacturing, construction, or similar setting
Considered An Asset
- Experience repairing conveyors, hoppers, chutes, moulds, and other material-handling equipment
- Experience with industrial preventative maintenance
- Valid G class driver’s licence

- Abilities
- Solid welding, fabrication, fitting, and mechanical aptitude
- Ability to assess damaged components and determine practical repair solutions
- Strong understanding of safe welding and cutting practices
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Solid attention to detail to ensure work quality and compliance are being appropriately monitored through inspections and observations.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lb and perform work involving standing, bending, crouching, climbing, and working in different positions
- Ability to handle multiple on-the-go tasks and appropriately prioritize based on operational needs
- Strong communication skills with supervisors, coworkers, and clients
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Professional attitude and strong work ethic

This position is governed by a collective agreement. The pay range posted reflects base compensation under the applicable agreement. Placement within the range is based on experience, qualifications, and union provisions. Advantages and other incentives are offered separately.
