Construction Estimator
The Senior Construction Estimator is responsible for developing accurate, competitive, and comprehensive cost estimates for a wide range of construction projects. This role plays a critical part in securing new business opportunities by preparing detailed bids, analyzing project requirements, coordinating subcontractor pricing, and identifying cost-effective solutions.
The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, operations teams, subcontractors, and leadership to ensure estimates align with project objectives while maintaining profitability and managing risk.
Estimating & Pre-Construction
- Produce accurate, well-organized, and timely project cost estimates utilizing a variety of procurement models, including:
- Construction Management
- Design-Build
- Prepare and submit competitive tenders while effectively managing multiple priorities and strict deadlines in a rapid-paced environment.
- Develop and maintain project schedules using Microsoft Project to support bidding and pre-construction activities.
- Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contract documentation, and project requirements to define project scope and assess associated costs.
- Prepare conceptual, budget, and detailed estimates at all phases of the project lifecycle.
- Research, track, and maintain current pricing information for labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and unit costs.
- Analyze various design and construction approaches and recommend the most practical and cost-effective solutions.
- Identify, develop, and present value engineering initiatives that enhance project value while preserving quality and performance requirements.
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs and comprehensive cost evaluations.
- Identify project risks and incorporate appropriate allowances and contingencies into estimate submissions.
Required Qualifications
- Degree, diploma, or technical certification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Engineering Technology, or a related construction field.
- Minimum of 10 years of estimating experience with a general contractor, or an equivalent combination of education, technical training, and hands-on construction experience.
- Proven experience preparing estimates for commercial, industrial, institutional, and/or civil construction projects.

- Conceptual and detailed cost estimating
- Unit cost development and analysis
- Corporate objectives and estimating methodologies
- Construction techniques, materials, and project sequencing
- Project scheduling principles and practices
