The YMCA of Southern Interior BC is seeking a Community Program Support Worker (Youth Worker) to support the morning delivery of our Back on Track program.
Back on Track is a YMCA-led three- to five-day intervention program for youth ages 12 to 17 who are suspended, at risk of suspension, or need time away from the traditional school workplace to reset. Working in partnership with schools and families, the program provides a positive, restorative experience that helps youth reflect on their choices, develop resilience, strengthen social skills, and successfully reconnect with learning.
As the Community Program Support Worker, you will serve as the first point of contact for participants during morning homework and support sessions. You will welcome youth into the program, build positive and trusting relationships, assist with schoolwork and assignments, and work alongside the Back on Track Facilitator to create a safe, engaging, and supportive environment.
Training will be provided. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and helping them recognize their strengths and potential.

What You Will Do
As a Community Program Support Worker, you will:
- Welcome participants and help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment each morning.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with youth through consistent engagement and encouragement.
- Support participants with homework completion, school assignments, and educational activities.
- Assist with group activities that encourage social connection, confidence, and personal growth.
- Promote positive behaviour and help maintain a respectful and supportive program environment.
- Provide supervision of youth participants with support from the on-site Back on Track Facilitator.
- Encourage youth to recognize their strengths, develop resilience, and achieve personal goals.
- Complete attendance records, documentation, and other administrative tasks as required.
- Collaborate with the Back on Track Facilitator to support daily program delivery.
- Represent the YMCA and Back on Track program in a positive and professional manner.
What You Bring
- A genuine passion for supporting youth and helping them succeed.
- Experience working with youth, children, or vulnerable populations in educational, recreational, or community settings.
- Post-secondary education in Child and Youth Care, Education, Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field is considered an asset.
- Understanding of strengths-based and youth-centered approaches.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to maintain healthy professional boundaries and confidentiality.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Comfort using Microsoft Office and basic computer applications.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
