Position Overview:

VETS Sheet Metal is looking for a skilled and motivated Journeyman Welder to join our growing shop fabrication team. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in quality workmanship, values teamwork, and thrives in a fast-paced shop environment.

Responsibilities:

- Perform welding and fabrication work in accordance with drawings, specifications, welding procedures, and quality standards.
- Complete FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding) and GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding/MIG) on carbon steel and other materials as required.
- Read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, weld symbols, and specifications to accurately complete assigned work.
- Fit, assemble, tack, and weld fabricated components while maintaining required dimensions, tolerances, and weld quality.
- Inspect completed welds and fabricated components for quality and identify or correct deficiencies as required.
- Operate welding machines, grinders, cutting equipment, and other fabrication tools safely and effectively.
- Work collaboratively with Fabrication/Shop team members to meet production schedules and project requirements.
- Maintain welding equipment and work areas in a safe, clean, and organized condition.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable welding and fabrication standards.




- Support other fabrication and shop activities as required to meet operational needs.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean, organized workspace
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures
- Collaborate with foremen and team members to meet production targets and deadlines

Qualifications:

- Journeyperson Welder certification recognized in Alberta.
- Demonstrated experience with FCAW and GMAW welding processes; current welding certifications/tickets in FCAW and/or GMAW are strongly preferred.
- Previous experience in an industrial fabrication or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Strong ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, weld symbols, and specifications.
- Experience fitting and fabricating structural and/or miscellaneous steel components.
- Knowledge of welding procedures, joint preparation, weld quality requirements, and safe welding practices.
- Ability to accurately use measuring tools and fabrication equipment.
- Robust attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with fabrication equipment.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Must possess or be willing to obtain required safety certifications (CSTS, WHMIS, Fall Protection, etc.).
- Willingness to learn and grow within a cooperative service-focused team environment.
