Blue House is a neighborhood coffee house built around thoughtful design, exceptional coffee, and genuine hospitality.

We're creating spaces where people can slow down, connect, and feel at home. As our first Oak Bay location prepares to open, we're looking for a Head Barista who wants to help build not just a café, but a culture.

About the Role

We're looking for a Front of House Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day operation of our Oak Bay café.

This is a key leadership position at Blue House.

You'll be responsible for the people, service, organization, and overall rhythm of the café. We want someone who understands that a great café isn't created by a checklist alone. It's created by a team that is supported, accountable, prepared, and proud of what they're building.

While previous experience is an important part of the role, we believe great leadership begins with integrity, curiosity, and a genuine care for people. We're looking for someone who is committed to growing alongside our team and helping shape the culture of Blue House.

What You'll Do

- Oversee daily front-of-house café operations
- Lead, support, and develop the café team
- Create and manage staff schedules
- Coordinate opening, closing, and shift responsibilities
- Maintain Blue House hospitality and service standards
- Manage staff performance and provide ongoing feedback
- Support hiring, onboarding, and training
- Work closely with the Lead Barista on beverage quality and bar operations
- Monitor inventory and coordinate ordering
- Address customer concerns professionally
- Maintain café cleanliness and operational standards




- Help improve systems and workflows
- Communicate staffing and operational needs to ownership
- Build a healthy, accountable, and positive team culture

We're Looking For Someone Who

- Has previous café management experience
- Has experience leading and developing a team
- Is highly dependable and organized
- Is willing to work alongside the team rather than only manage from the sidelines
- Communicates clearly and respectfully
- Can make decisions independently
- Handles problems calmly
- Holds themselves and others accountable
- Takes genuine ownership of the café

Requirements

- 1-2 years of café management experience
- Food Safe Level 1 certification
