We are seeking a motivated Clinical Assistant to support our physicians and clinical team with patient care, clinic flow, and daily operations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a medical or healthcare background who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and is committed to providing a professional and positive patient experience. Experience with Accuro EMR is considered a strong asset. International Medical Graduates (IMGs) are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist physicians and healthcare providers during patient assessments, examinations, and clinical procedures
- Prepare examination rooms and ensure supplies, instruments, and equipment are available, organized, and properly maintained
- Obtain and accurately document patients’ vital signs, medical histories, and presenting concerns
- Perform electrocardiograms (ECGs) and upload or document the results in Accuro EMR
- Assist with specimen collection, phlebotomy, dressings, injections, and other clinical tasks, where appropriately trained and authorized
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments under physician direction and in accordance with clinic protocols, training, and applicable requirements
- Provide patients with instructions and help ensure a comfortable and professional experience
- Clean and prepare examination rooms and clinical equipment between patients
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures, including the appropriate cleaning and sterilization of equipment
- Coordinate with physicians, nurses, and administrative staff to support efficient patient flow
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering and restocking medical supplies
- Enter, update, and maintain accurate patient information and clinical documentation in Accuro EMR
- Assist with patient check-in, appointment scheduling, telephone inquiries, and other administrative duties when required
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with clinic policies and applicable privacy requirements
Qualifications
- Medical, clinical, or healthcare-related education or experience
- International medical degree or phlebotomy certification is considered an asset
- Previous experience in a clinical, hospital, or medical-office setting is preferred; however, training may be provided to the right candidate
- Experience using Accuro EMR or another electronic medical record system is preferred
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, patient-care procedures, and clinical documentation
- Knowledge of medication-administration protocols and infection prevention and control practices is an asset
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain it is preferred
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Compassionate and professional approach to patient care
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team
- Comfortable handling confidential and sensitive patient information
Ability to Commute or Relocate
Applicants must be able to reliably commute to East York, Ontario, or relocate before beginning employment.
Pay: $19.00-$22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35.0 per week
