Job Summary

The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN) is seeking an internal experienced and motivated Family Information Liaison Officer (FILO) in the Women’s Secretariat. The FILO worker provides technical, administrative, and liaison support to the Women’s Secretariat and the Saskatchewan First nations Women’s Commission. This role supports families of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit people (MMIWGS2+) by coordinating information access, referrals, research, reporting, and communication and by leading complex or escalated family liaison matters while maintaining respectful, culturally grounded relationships with families, communities, and partners.

Your Role

Family Liaison & Support

- Serve as a primary point of contact for families of MMIWG2S+ in Saskatchewan.
- Gather, organize, and share information related to family needs and concerns.
- Provide culturally appropriate, trauma-informed referrals and support.
- Support families in navigating services, agencies, and available resources.
- Build and maintain respectful, trusting relationships with families and communities.
- Lead coordination of complex, sensitive, or escalated family cases as required.

Research & Analysis

- Conduct, compile, and analyze research related to MMIWGS2+ issues as required.
- Assist with the development of policy options, program initiatives, and reports.
- Provide analytical input and recommendations to support long-term policy and legislative initiatives addressing systemic issues.

Communications & Documentation

- Draft letters, briefing notes, reports, presentations, and updates.
- Prepare media releases, briefing materials, and communication products.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, filles, and tracking systems.
- Provide regular updates on activities, challenges, and progress.
- Ensure documentation standards and information quality across Women’s Secretariat initiatives.

Liaison & Coordination

- Maintain effective liaison with First Nations, Tribal Councils,



and governments.
- Coordinate with Indigenous and non-Indigenous organizations, agencies, and partners.
- Support Women’s Secretariat initiatives and working/advisory groups.
- Assist in the implementation of Chiefs-In-Assembly and Women’s Commission resolutions, directives and, and policy decisions.
- Provide functional guidance and coordination support to junior staff, project resources, or contractors as required.

- Indigenous and non-Indigenous organizations, agencies, and service providers.
- Government partners at federal, provincial, and municipal levels.

- Contribute senior-level insight to policy development, systemic change, and organizational decision-making.
- Uphold culturally grounded, trauma-informed approaches within FSIN initiatives.

Qualifications:

Education

- Bachelor’s degree in social work, Law, Public Policy, or a related field.
- Equivalent education and experience may be considered.

Experience

- Minimum of five (5) years’ relevant experience.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and internet tools.
- Knowledge and understanding of First Nations customs, culture, and history.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong Organizational, analytical and documentation skills.
- Demonstrated experience handling complex files, sensitive subject matter, or system-level issues.
