Job Description: Industrial Millwright Apprentice

Position Title: Apprentice Industrial Mechanic Millwright (Food Manufacturing)

Reports To: Lead Millwright

Position Type: Full time (On-Site)

Role Overview

We are seeking an energetic Apprentice Millwright who has completed pre-apprenticeship schooling or a diploma in Industrial Mechanical Maintenance and is seeking to log practical hours toward their journeyperson certification. You will work alongside licensed Millwrights to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair high-speed food processing and packaging machinery while adhering to strict food safety and sanitation protocols.

Key Responsibilities

- Preventative & Corrective Maintenance: Assist in routine PMs, mechanical adjustments, component replacements, and emergency repairs on packaging equipment, conveyors, liquid/dry filling lines, rotary accumulation tables, and air compressors.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues under the guidance of a Journeyperson.
- Safety & Compliance: Strictly observe Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Confined Space rules, Arc Flash standards, and plant PPE guidelines.
- Food Safety Standards:



Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP, and sanitation controls to prevent cross-contamination during maintenance activities.
- Record Keeping: Log daily work orders, preventive maintenance tasks, and apprenticeship skill hours accurately in the CMMS.

Qualifications & Requirements

- Education: Completed diploma or certificate in Industrial Mechanic Millwright (433A equivalent) or Mechanical Engineering Technician/Technologist program.
- Experience: 0–2 years of hands-on experience; prior exposure to a manufacturing or packaging facility is an asset.
- Core Competencies: Basic knowledge of mechanical drive systems, alignment tools, welding/fabrication basics, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
- Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and a high attention to detail regarding safety and sanitation.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in varied temperature environments, and stand for extended periods.

Pay: From $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 44.0 per week
