Responsibilities

- Fibre-splicing, testing, and troubleshooting of fibre sites and links
- Build fibre optic splice closures (FOSCs), prep, and splice OSP fibre cables into various FOSCs for fibre size 12 FOC to 432 FOC
- Fibre dressing in pedestals, service boxes, vaults, and manholes
- Fusion splice Outside Plant and inside buildings MDU
- Testing fiber with the use of an OTDR, Power Meter, Live Fibre Identifier, VFL
- Completing all related administrative tasks, time and material reporting, inspection reports, inventory reports, etc.
- Wear appropriate safety equipment and follow established safety practices and procedures.




- May be required to perform additional duties and tasks as required by the Company.

Qualifications

- Minimum 1-year work experience with fiber fusion splicing, line work
- Familiarity with optical test equipment such as power meter, OTDR is an asset
- Be able to carry and also climb a 28-foot extension ladder.
- Ability to perform the essential duties of the job which include lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs, clearly identify colored cables.
- Certification in confined space and/or first aid CPR is an asset
- Excellent communication, inter-personal skills, teamwork and collaborative abilities
- Must have a valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
- Knowledge of bonding and grounding telecommunications plant
