The Inclusion Support Worker provides an opportunity for children aged 4-12yrs who
require additional support to be in a childcare environment. The Inclusion Support Staff
are responsible for working with participations for the duration of the week. Weekly
duties may include greeting participants, speaking to parents/guardians (if applicable),
personal care, adapting activities, providing 1:1 support for a child and ensuring open
communication on the needs of the participants. Responsible for actively engaging in
the program along with the participant and adapting the activity as necessary. Reports
to the Childcare Lead and the Facility Manager.
Responsibilities:
● Support children that require extra support and an individualized behavioral plan
to support participation
● Provide personal care to participants when needed
● Maintain appropriate documentation in relation to providing inclusion supports
● Assisting Childcare Lead in developing individual inclusion plans based on specific
needs, abilities, and interests
● Provides therapeutic intervention in crisis using crisis intervention skills or, and
or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) strategies
● Assists in ensuring a safe and secure program setting for all
● Supports Childcare Lead to provide effective first response strategies during
incidents/emergencies; activates secondary, tertiary emergency response in a
timely manner.

Minimum Requirements:
● Minimum enrollment in an undergraduate university degree or college diploma
program in a relevant field of study such as Therapeutic Recreation, Child and
Youth Studies, Psychology, Education, Social Work, School of Communication
Disorders, Kinesiology—and/or equivalent level of experience and training
working with neurodivergent children.
● Minimum 1-2 years related experience working with children of various ages and
diverse abilities.
● Previous training and/or experience in implementing behavioral management
strategies.
● Previous training and/or experience providing personal care
● Valid certification in CPR/First Aid (can be provided by the employer)
Note: proof of all the above will be required.
Security Clearance Requirements: Applicants are required to complete an employment
security screening check and vulnerable sector check.
Job Specific Requirements:
- Must have demonstrated interest and knowledge of working with children who
require additional support.
- Must have a good knowledge of inclusion strategies, adapting activities, behavior
management and community resources.
- Must also have the ability to develop and access a variety of resources and a
working knowledge of childcare program planning to meet the needs of all
program participants.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Applicants
relying on education and experience equivalencies must clearly demonstrate such
equivalencies in their application.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: From $19.75 per hour
Expected hours: 20.0 per week
