Retail Sales Associate — Event Activation

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are hiring Retail Sales Associates to support a 4-day retail activation in Toronto. This is a fast-paced, on-your-feet role supporting the setup, daily operation, and teardown of a temporary retail space. Associates will help set up the space and merchandise on day one, keep product stocked and available on the floor throughout each shift, provide friendly front-line customer support, and support closing/teardown duties at the end of the event. Product-specific questions are directed to on-floor product experts — this role focuses on floor operations, stocking, and general customer service.

Queen Elizabeth Building, Exhibition Place, 100 Princes' Blvd, Toronto

Event Dates:

Thursday, September 17 – Sunday, September 20

Employment Type:

Temporary / Event-based

Pay

$22/hour

Shifts:

Multiple shifts per day (approx. 6–7 hours each, with a 1-hour handover overlap between shifts) — see shift schedule for exact times

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Day 1 — Setup Shift

- Assist with setting up the retail space, including tables, fixtures, and signage
- Unpack, organize, and set up merchandise on the floor according to the merchandising plan
- Open and arrange tables and displays ahead of doors opening
- Support the broader team with any general setup tasks as directed by the on-site supervisor

All Shifts — Daily Floor Duties

- Help manage stock runs, moving product from the stockroom/storage area to the floor as needed
- Continuously monitor product levels on the floor and restock to ensure availability throughout the shift




- Provide friendly, front-line retail customer service — greeting visitors, answering general questions, and directing foot traffic
- Refer any product-specific or technical questions to the on-floor product experts
- Maintain a clean, organized, and presentable floor and display area throughout the shift
- Communicate with dispatch/floor supervisors and teammates to ensure smooth handovers between shifts
- Follow all site safety and site-specific policies

Day 4 — Closing Shift

- Support closing procedures at the end of the event, including tear-down of the retail space
- Pack up remaining merchandise, fixtures, tables, and signage
- Assist with final clean-up of the space to leave it organized and ready for hand-back
- Complete any closing checklists or hand-off tasks as directed by the on-site supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS

- Previous retail, customer service, or event-staffing experience is an asset
- Comfortable with physical tasks including lifting, standing, and walking for extended periods
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team in a rapid-paced environment
- Able to work assigned shifts across the full Sept 17–20 event window (single-day and multi-day availability both welcome)
- Comfortable directing customers to the appropriate team member for product-specific questions

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to lift and carry merchandise and event materials (up to approximately 25–35 lbs), stand and walk for the duration of the shift, and assist with setup/teardown tasks such as moving tables, fixtures, and boxes.
