Socan Property Management Inc. is a boutique property management firm specializing in value-add multifamily, mixed-use, and commercial properties throughout the Greater Toronto Area.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee the accounting and financial reporting for a growing portfolio of properties under management.

The Accounting Manager will take ownership of month-end reporting, general ledger accuracy, account reconciliations, cash management, budgeting support, and the day-to-day oversight of the property accounting function. You will work closely with property managers, management, clients, lenders, and other stakeholders to ensure timely, accurate, and practical financial information.

Experience in Yardi Voyager, including process design, reporting, documentation, and workflow improvements is essential.

Responsibilities

- Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting process for properties under management.
- Lead month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of general ledger and property-level accounting records.
- Oversee bank reconciliations, cash management, funding requirements, and account analysis.
- Manage property tax administration, tenant adjustments, and commercial CAM reconciliations.
- Review lease setup and accounting information in Yardi and ensure consistency with executed lease documentation.
- Support construction and capital project accounting, including the use of Yardi Job Cost.
- Coordinate annual budgets, forecasts, lender reporting, audit requests, and other client reporting requirements.
- Partner with property managers and management to investigate variances and provide financial insight into property performance.
- Manage, review, coach, and develop members of the finance and accounting team.
- Play a key role in the implementation of Yardi Voyager,



including system configuration, data conversion, testing, reporting, documentation, and process design.
- Develop and maintain accounting procedures, internal controls, and standardized workflows.
- Identify opportunities to automate reporting, improve the month-end close process, and increase the efficiency and scalability of the accounting function.
- Support management with ad hoc financial analysis and other initiatives as the business continues to grow.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive property accounting experience, with strong experience in multifamily residential properties.
- Strong hands-on experience with Yardi, preferably Yardi Voyager.
- Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing financial statements, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and month-end close processes.
- Experience managing or mentoring accounting team members.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a growing, entrepreneurial, and client-focused environment.

Preferred Qualifications

- CPA designation, active CPA candidate status, or equivalent accounting qualification.
- Experience with both residential and commercial real estate in Ontario.




- Experience with construction accounting, capital projects, and Yardi Job Cost.
- Experience participating in a Yardi Voyager implementation or system conversion.
- Knowledge of Yardi Spreadsheet Reporting and other Yardi reporting tools.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, lender reporting, and audit coordination.
- Experience developing accounting procedures, internal controls, and process improvements.

Pay: $65,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
