The Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Canada are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to fill a position vacancy in our Peterborough Residence as a:

HOUSEKEEPER

Casual Position

Rate $24.82/hr

Position Summary: Receiving direction from the Support Services Supervisor, our Housekeepers perform cleaning activities within well established guidelines and assigned areas, including laundry duties. Housekeepers must provide clean, sanitary, comfortable, orderly and satisfying surroundings for the Sisters, employees, and visitors. Housekeepers maintain a clean and hygienic workplace ensuring cleanliness and infection control. Housekeepers must follow the required procedures for handling, cleaning, disposing, or moving of objects/materials and/or the clean-up of materials in accordance with legislative and organizational requirements.

Qualifications:

- Grade 12 education or a satisfactory combination of education, training, experience, or abilities in a related field.
- Experience with housekeeping, long-term care or residential building work preferred.
- Physically capable of performing all duties as required and operate equipment in a safe and competent manner.
- Ability to perform functions that require heavy lifting, bending, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and repetitive movements
- Must be able to read, write,



and speak English as to be understood effectively by another individual.
- Ability to work in a team environment with strong interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis.
- Economical use of supplies, care and use of equipment.
- Experience with stocking and Inventory.
- Must be able to accomplish all responsibilities with little supervision.

This Casual position will be scheduled for sick time, vacation, holidays and special events. The regular Housekeeping shift is 7:30am-4:00pm. The ability to work weekends and holidays is a requirement for this role, as well as a willingness to work flexible hours as required.

We also require a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector check.
