Assistant Field Technician / Labourer
Reports To:
Field Technicians
Director of Operations
Job Type: Hourly, Full-Time
Pay Rate: $20-$24
Purpose of the Job
The Assistant Field Technician / Labourer will accompany and support Field Technicians in completing facility maintenance, repairs, installations, and service requests at client sites. The role is designed to provide hands-on experience while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to Ridgeside’s quality standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Follow instructions from Field Technicians, supervisors, and management.
- Assist with routine maintenance, repairs, inspections, and installations.
- Assist with basic electrical, plumbing, and general building maintenance tasks as directed.
- Safely operate hand and power tools and maintain tools and work areas.
- Assist with troubleshooting and report issues or unusual conditions to the Field Technician or supervisor.
- Assist with service documentation, including recording work completed and materials used.
- Maintain professionalism and provide courteous service.
- Follow all company safety policies, site requirements, and applicable regulations, including OHSA and WHMIS.
- Identify and report hazards, safety concerns, and equipment issues.
- Some travel within the province of Ontario is required on an occasional basis.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in maintenance, construction, trades, or a related field is an asset.
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
- Class G driver’s license is an asset.
- Solid willingness to learn.
- Reliable, hardworking, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
Working Conditions
- Employees may be required to work in a range of weather conditions, from mild to very hot or cold, including hot days, icy conditions, and stormy weather.In all seasons, employees must be prepared to work in rainy conditions and bring appropriate protective gear, such as rain jackets.
- Employees may be required to work at heights, perform hot work, conduct work near energized utilities, or carry out other permit-required activities. In these situations, appropriate PPE, training, and instructions will be provided in accordance with OHSA, WHMIS guidelines, and other applicable regulations.
- Employees may also occasionally be exposed to chemicals or other hazardous materials. Appropriate PPE, training, and instructions will be provided as required under OHSA, WHMIS, and other applicable regulations and standards.

- Can expect to be asked to lift up to 50 lbs.
Motion Parameters
- Lift and carry materials/tools weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently bend, climb, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive lifting/movements.
- Work at heights when required and appropriately trained.
