The Direct Support Facilitator is responsible to help develop and implement Person Centred Programs for individuals living within our residential group homes.

RESPONSIBILITES

In general, the role of the Direct Support Facilitator (DSF) is to support the participation of people with disabilities with life/living skills and in community-based activities of their own choosing. Further, the DSF supports Individuals who live in the community in residential supported or enhanced supported independent living environments. This support is operationalized through hands-on assistance to people with activities and routines that have been secured, organized, and established by the Team Lead/Direct Support Professional. The DSF carries out responsibilities under the supervision of their Team Lead or Manager. Functioning as an integral part of staff team, the DSF provides a key support role to the Manager/Team Lead/Direct Support Professional position. It is recognized that most supports would be provided in the homes of persons served,



as well as in the community.

REQUIREMENTS

· Two-year College Diploma in Developmental Services Worker, Social Services Worker or another related post-secondary training program, and/or previous related experience

· Satisfactory Criminal Records Check for the Vulnerable Sector

· Valid G Driver’s License and satisfactory Driver’s Abstract

· Certification in First Aid/CPR Level C and Crisis Prevention Intervention

· Effective communication skills (oral, written, and listening)

· Strong team player

· Thorough knowledge of developmental services/mental health

· Understanding of the application of Behaviour Management

· Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and ethical standards

· Computer proficiency in Microsoft Outlook Suite (Work, Outlook)

· Ability to be flexible and work independently

· Ability to perform two-person lifts with another employee
