ABOUT US:
The Wilfrid Laurier University Students’ Union is an independent not-for-profit organization formally affiliated with Wilfrid Laurier University. We are governed by a Board of Directors, 12 elected undergraduate students, and managed by an elected President and CEO who serves a 1-year term.
The President’s Executive Leadership Team, both current students and recent graduates, serve in their roles alongside a continuing staff team managed by our Executive Director.
The Students’ Union exists to represent, advocate for, and support all Laurier undergraduate students. We work to ensure the student experience is affordable, accessible, protected, and that a high-quality academic experience is paired with opportunities for diverse and inclusive social interaction.
It is our goal to be a student-drive organization that is accountable to our members, community focussed, and adaptable to change.
ROLE SUMMARY:
The Kitchen Manager (Waterloo) is a senior leader who oversees the comprehensive operational and administrative portfolio of the kitchen within the Hospitality Services department for the Students’ Union. Reporting to the Director, Business Operations, your focus will be in areas such as creating and maintaining a student focused food program, helping the department to contribute positively to the financial picture of the organization, upholding sector wide best practices and acting as a direct resource when liaising with the University and external partners.
The incumbent will be highly motivated to work in a rapid-paced environment, have a passion for teaching and positively enabling teams, be extremely well organized, detail-oriented, have strong interpersonal skills and excellent time management skills.

WAGE RATE:
$ 52,000 to $63,206.33per annum,commensuratetoqualifications
REPORTS TO:
Director, Business Operations
EDUCATION:
Post-secondary culinary or hospitality degree is an asset, with a minimum of 4 years of culinary experience
TECHNICAL:
Prior high-volume, full-service kitchen experience required, as well as experience in kitchen management, Kitchen Display Systems (KDS), inventory software and scheduling is an asset
CERTIFICATION:
Advanced Food Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, Standard First Aid and CPR (can be acquired after starting the position)
LOCATION:
Based in Waterloo with the expectation of occasional travel to the Brantford
campus in support of catering functions
