Senior Electrical EngineerReporting to the Electrical Section Manager, the Senior Electrical Engineer is a member of the integrated project team that contributes Electrical engineering knowledge and analysis during the design phase of our work. The project mix will span a variety of typologies and systems: assignments include hyperscale data centres and collaborations with other business groups within HDR including Water, Resources, and Transportation Business Groups. The role involves working on multiple projects with project sites in various locations. The Sr Electrical Engineer may be involved in construction contract administration, site reviews on different projects, and condition assessments. The successful candidate will participate in a growing collaborative and integrated engineering team. Common areas for progression and growth opportunities for this position include leadership positions in Technical Specialization, Operations, or Project Management.ResponsibilitiesCoordinate the work of Electrical Engineers with the balance of a multidiscipline team throughout the entire project's developmentEstablish client relations, and participate in the marketing, design and production meetings with regard to electrical systemsAssume the electrical lead on many projectsParticipate in reviews with various governing agencies for code complianceConduct schematic, design development and contract document work sessions at the project site in conjunction with the Project Manager, Project Architect and other disciplinesCoordinate workload through the entire project development to complete documents on scheduleTrack the financial aspects of projects,



and coordinate and adjust the work effort with the team to ensure that the work is completed within the parameters of the agreed-upon scheduleWork with the Project Manager and Regional Controller for project reviews with corporate management as neededDirect the activities of other electrical engineering professionals, and act as a mentor to other staff members as neededReview electrical documents for areas of conflict with all disciplinesWrite and edit electrical specifications. Select equipment, electrical systems and devicesCoordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, and change orders, and take responsibility to incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documentsProduce and coordinate several projects concurrentlyProvide construction contract administration as neededConduct QA/QC on the work of other Electrical Project Engineers, Electrical Project Coordinators or Electrical CAD Technicians as neededPerform other duties as neededPreferred QualificationsMaster's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasisPrevious experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm desiredData Centre, Semiconductor, Healthcare,



Laboratory or Sports facilities experienceExperience using AI productivity tools to accelerate project workstreams including technical writing, code and specification research, and performance simulation and modellingStrong communication and listening skills.Ability to handle multiple concurrent assignmentsGood organizational skills, confident curiosity, strong analytical judgmentAbility to rigorously audit, validate, and verify all AI-generated outputs (examples: calculations, code interpretations, and designs) against core electrical engineering fundamentals and regulations.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasisA minimum of 10 years experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems)Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered.
