THE ROLE Our client is a leading distribution organization seeking a Transportation Supervisor to oversee transportation operations in Delta.
This position will be responsible for the day-to-day planning, scheduling, and dispatch of the hourly transportation workforce, while ensuring
employee safety, delivery service, productivity, and operational efficiency
remain top priorities.
The Transportation Supervisor will oversee drivers, manage daily routes and delivery schedules, monitor equipment utilization and provide leadership and direction to employees in a
high-volume, unionized distribution environment .
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring someone who can balance
safety, customer service, labour requirements and cost efficiency , while effectively interpreting and applying the
Collective Bargaining Agreement .
Shift:
Sunday to Wednesday,
8:00 AM - 6:00 PM
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan daily and weekly
manpower and equipment requirements , minimizing unnecessary overtime.
Lead daily shift meetings and communicate key safety, operational and service priorities.
Assign daily work to drivers, ensuring
safety, service, productivity and reliability
targets are achieved.
Administer daily dispatch and maintain accurate
master delivery and route schedules .
Optimize routes and equipment utilization to maximize
safety, service and cost efficiency .
Ensure transportation operations comply with the
Collective Bargaining Agreement , company policies and applicable regulations.
Monitor employee
productivity, attendance, reliability, mileage, fuel usage, equipment and delivery
performance.
Audit driver trip records, payroll entries and operational documentation for accuracy and compliance.
Provide training, coaching and direction to drivers and warehouse employees regarding SOPs and safe work practices.
Investigate
near misses, injuries and vehicle collisions , ensuring corrective actions are completed and communicated.
Work closely with Warehouse, Transportation and Customer Service teams to resolve operational and customer-impacting issues.
Hold employees accountable through effective coaching, recognition and progressive discipline when required.
Monitor service provider performance to ensure service, quality and cost expectations are met.
Ensure compliance with
food safety, sanitation, transportation and workplace safety standards .
Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, productivity, service and cost reduction.
Maintain accurate operational statistics and prepare timely reports for management.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in
Business, Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain or a related field .
3 to 5 years of experience
in high-volume distribution, logistics, transportation, or a similar environment.
1 to 3 years of progressive supervisory experience , preferably leading drivers or hourly employees.
Experience working in a
unionized environment
and knowledge of Collective Bargaining Agreements is a strong asset.
Strong knowledge of
transportation operations, routing, scheduling, and dispatch .
Experience with routing and onboard transportation software is a strong asset; knowledge of
Syntellic, Paragon or Xatanet
is preferred.
Strong Microsoft Office and computer skills.
Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities with the ability to remain composed in a high-pressure environment.
Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret operational data and produce accurate reports.
Demonstrated commitment to
health & safety, food safety and regulatory compliance .
Self-motivated, proactive and able to work effectively as part of a team.
COMPENSATION:
$82,000 to $92,000 depending on experience.
10% annual bonus.
